I think at some point during his ordeal Fred had a stroke, there were lots of signs that indicated such.
I pray he lives a long happy life full of love and affection.

Wow LMPG ~ that is one thousand mile stare huh? He's seen alot and lived thru h%ll. I get shivers ~ poor sweet, innocent lad. I'm surprized they didn't butcher his ears. I hope he thrives now that he is good hands. What would we Onscarions do without the good folks like you and the RATIONAL laws you have there ~ :(:(:( .

mummummum, I'm from Ontario too, moved out here decades ago.
Yes I am so glad that Alberta has rational laws, and rational ppl working in the Animal Control and Bylaw.
The sad thing is, there are those out here with the Anti Pitbull attitude, no matter how hard you try to get the real message out about Pitbulls, there are still those who refuse to listen and continue to think that we Pitbull guardians are all "criminals" or "drug dealers"...:frustrated:

If the right forever home can not be found, then the president of the rescue will adopt him herself yes, at least that was what was indicated in an email I received.
He is adoptable, but his "human" must be very dedicated and consistent, because this darling boy needs a lot, and I mean a lot of work! Most certainly obedience training is a must, some manners, and lead work especially. I don't think he was ever taken for a walk, or very few anyway.
Also I think once he's assessed by a vet, there are going to be some long term health issues that will need to be addressed and properly treated.
I don't know if Fred could ever be 100% again, but with the right human he certainly stands a chance.
Ugh...I can't think about him without crying...

Are his ears naturally like that,Or was something done to him, don't floppy ears usually fall to the side..

Chico, I do believe his ears do that naturally, there were no scars or anything to indicate otherwise. I have seen a few Pits with ears like that throughout the years, with the floppy forward ears. None of the Pits I have ever had, have had ears like that.
Fred, has a new name....Ray (Rainman), but he'll always be Fred to me.

I got an update last night, that Fred is really coming out of his shell, he even tried to hump the leg of the owner of the rescue! He's more confident eating out of a bowl and has had moments where he was actually playful.
He's getting along well with the other dogs in the house, and showed no aggression towards the resident cats either.
His bloodwork, amazingly, came back good, but he does have severe allergies which were left untreated and the scars on his legs are more than likely from that, those scars will probably be permanent.
He's having some major dental and he'll be neutered, in the near future, then with some crate training to house train, and after he's recovered and on his way to having some house manners, he'll be up for adoption.
I wish there wasn't a dog limit in my town, because I would gladly adopt him.

I think what little food he did get before was either strewn on the ground for him or served on a piece of cardboard or something. I had fed him while he was here, had no choice he wouldn't eat otherwise:(
