Kitchener says BSL has worked, but...

I just got off the phone with an investigator at the KW Health office, where they are responsible for collecting dog bite statistics.

Did you know the only statistics they collect are for the purpose of reporting the spread of rabies?

Did you know that when they fill out reports, they only ask if the animal was a dog... but never inquire about breed?

I'm on hold with the KW Humane Society, but as it stands right now... if the Municipal Office doesn't have any records, and the data is collected for a different purpose entirely, and is missing vital data to justify that BSL is working...

Doesn't that mean that Kitchener has absolutely no idea if BSL is working or not?

Clearly there are going to be less "Pit Bull" attacks with so many of them removed or destroyed, and not allowed within the city... but if those dogs were there all along, still, how would they know?
