Tundra_Queen March 20th, 2010, 01:36 AM Hi
Mindy has quite a few bumps on her skin; about 10. And she seems to be getting more of them. I'm wondering if they are warts or age spots. I hit one tonight and it seemed to hurt her a bit.
Is there anything that will cure them? I tried to find anything about them on google but could only find something about flexpet...still don't know what that is.

Shaykeija March 20th, 2010, 03:19 AM Are they under the skin or on top? I talked to Lindsay about those and she said they were fatty lumps. Just for a piece of mind you should take her to the vet. Give the little one a hug for me..
Longblades March 20th, 2010, 12:18 PM Dogs do get warts but it would be good to Vet to make sure that's what they are and ask your Vet. Our first Lab had two on her pretty face that were removed by the Vet during anaesthesia for something else. One of them grew back. In later life the dog had several on her pretty face which I found to be most distressing but the Vet said they were better left alone. One, on her ear, continually got scraped off, bled, healed and formed again but never got any bigger or caused any harm. My Vet said DON'T use any human over the counter wart preparations on the dog but I think that was partly because they were on her face and close to her eyes and she might have rubbed the stuff into her eyes. Or she might have licked the paw she rubbed with.
Etown_Chick March 20th, 2010, 03:09 PM Scruffy had one on his tongue. It was ugly but not causing him any issues, so I let it fall off on its own.
If it was causing problems, or pain, I'd see the vet.
chico2 March 20th, 2010, 04:19 PM Bailey(Cocker)has several,a couple on her face and some on her back, they do look awful, when I first noticed one,I thought it was a tick.

Shay, I know u said Lindsay said they were fatty lumps. I was just wondering cause yesterday I was petting her and I sort of caught one with my hand and she moved like it hurt. I didn't know if there was any cure for them like there is for people or not. And yes, I will give Mindy tons of hugs from you. :D

Thanks. I have no intentions of using over the counter meds. :) I didn't know that there was even something they could do for a dog that might have warts as I've never had a dog with warts before.

Etown_chick...warts on dogs will fall off? Gee I didn't know that either...I have so much to learn. And on it's tongue? that must of been hard to eat with.
Chico,,,did Bailey's fall off?
I don't even know if we have ticks up here...another question I will have to ask our vet.

chico2 March 21st, 2010, 07:25 AM TQ,no they did not fall off, they look kind of ugly,Bailey just got a new one over her other eye:frustrated:
Often she scratches at them so she bleeds..the owner tells me,it's nothing to worry about.
Tundra_Queen March 21st, 2010, 08:49 PM chico,,,poor bailey,,,that must hurt when she catches them and makes them bleed.

if it's the doggy version of papilloma, ya they do fall off. If you have any concerns, please see your vet.
Scruffy's never bothered him or I would have taken him in. It looked ugly, almost like a tooth was growing in his tongue..but he's fine now. Apparently it's quite common.
But dogs can get them elsewhere, like on the paw pads. Those can cause problems.
Not sure that what your dog has is warts. Better to find out for sure.
Tundra_Queen March 22nd, 2010, 05:26 PM Etown...they feel smooth not rough like what I think warts feel like. But I will be keeping an eye on them and bringing her in if her ear infection doesn't clear up after the meds.
The vet tech is bringing over the ear meds tonight for me and i'm going to ask her to have a look at the spots too just to see what she things.
