Patellar Luxation surgery - maltese 1 year old

March 13th, 2010, 04:20 PM

My poor chewy needs another Patellar luxation surgery but this time on his right leg.
He is a beautiful 1 year old maltese.
He had his left leg done about 3 months ago (he did the surgery outside of Canada).
Now we live in Thornhill, Ontario and are looking to hear about your experience with this kind of surgery.
We are looking for your recommendations about surgeon vets to do this surgery anywhere in the GTA (we are willing to go to where ever necessary)
Also be interested to know the approximate cost for such a surgery.

Thank you very much,

I am probably wrong about this...

but, I think most of the specialist Vets in Toronto (don't know about Thornhill) work out of the Emerg. clinics like McMurrich Street. (VEC 416-226-3663) which is downtown TO. The equipment etc there is top of the line. Your local GP Vet makes the referral to the Ortho Vet.

Ceili has had a few surgeries there. Mucho dineros but good results and good care.

Pics!!! Wonderful!!!

Not sure how familiar you are with The Centre of the Universe :D but, it REALLY does pay to shop around. The Vet prices here are all over the map and tend to be very $$$$. Most often, smaller cities and towns are far less expensive for just about everything. You might also want to speak to your local Vet about what Guelph can offer you ortho-wise.
