OMG, this all the fault of  Micheal Bryant . The law is poorly written and leaves it up to the ACO to view a dog and determine it's genetic background. :wall: :wall: :wall:

I hope they get their dogs back.

OH don't get me started on that one. I am also a biker who has to put up with arrogant drivers that think they own the road. I have been following that case like a hawk. There is a thread about it under the BSL forum.

I tried to comment but nothing worked . I'm in total awe at the stupidity of the people stating these are pit bulls. They don't even look like pits. How anyone could take dogs that cause no trouble from law abiding seniors who love these dogs is beyond me. I wish I could drive there and shake a few heads together to wake them up. Someone is trying to look macho, how macho is it to euthanize dogs who did nothing wrong?

Let me know Chris. Listen - I cannot network from here. All I need is the name of the Animal Control. I have dealt with one before in London and bought some time for the dog until I was able to bring her here. Maybe I can try with this Animal Control. It's worth the try.

I do have a rescue to help here. Chris - I will PM you my phone number at home and cell. Please get in touch with me for everything you find out and I will move on this.

Thanks so much.

It did say in the blurb in the T. Star that the AC seem open to getting them out of the Province.

I left a message. Hopefully they will call and honor their 'openness' to get them out of province. The ball is in their court now.

Well according the facebook group the euthanization date has been pushed back indefinitely. BUT the the government is NOT considering giving the dogs back to the people as a possible option. They either "have to be" put down or transferred to a different province.

well myself, if I were the "owners", I'd move outside ontario. to me besides proving they aren't bullie then this is the only option to have their pets back. Brina would be worth moving for.

I would as well Melinda but then again we at Pets are alittle more sensitive about our animals and would move mountains for them. Others however either are not economically sound to make a move or they do not put as much value on their pets as we do.

WTF is wrong with people??!!!:yell:

This is, without a doubt, a modern day witch hunt! Has everyone lost their sense of reason? This is profiling at its' worst:wall:

This is just another example of abuse of power (by the "authorities") - fueled by extreme ignorance and irrationality...!

I really hope that these innocent dogs are returned to their rightful owners, and everyone can get back to living their life...:fingerscr

On the news the other night, a spokeswoman from the shelter said the shelter would be in violation of the law if they were to give the dogs back. What kind of BS is that?

The Branco family:angel: is paying the legal bills for the Gaspar's. Once in a while you get a glimpse that there is hope for humanity yet.

Apparently there is to be a rally at the shelter on Sat, Feb. 6 from 9-11am.

You know, what astounds me in this province of ours,a jerk can keep Tigers in his barn(the owners was killed by one)but perfectly innocent good pet-dogs will be euthanized, because some ignorant people see them as pit-bulls.
Not that I want Tigers to be killed, but they certainly don't belong in someones barn.
I am really sorry for these seniors and the poor pups,I hope people will yell loud enough to stop this lunacy:pray:
As for M.Bryant,I am 100% sure,he'll get no punishment,they are dragging it out,hoping we'll forget,but I certainly never will.
I can still see him on TV,going"Ban,Ban,Ban those vicious dogs!!"
The man is a cruel, ignorant, arrogant SOB!

Someone's comment after the above article lol

Question for Ms Mesbah

" “We certainly do feel for the families,” Mesbah said, adding the city will work with dog owners to find a home for their seized dogs outside of the province." Why on earth would you work with these owners or any other owners to relocate "dangerous" dogs to another Province? Do you have something against the other Provinces?

What does it say Benmax?

BenMax
February 12th, 2010, 11:19 AM
Interesting extraction:

'Even though the provincial legislation does not provide an appeal route for resolving this issue, the City approached the families lawyer last week to see if a mediated settlement was possible.'

Unfortunately the city could not reach an agreement with the families' lawyer on the details of how this mediated process would work. The cities offer remains open to the owners but regretfully, the city anticipates that the family may seek an application before the Ontario Superior Court to argue that their dogs are not pitbulls and should be returned.'

No where in this letter does it say what 'agreement' what it is or what it means!

Ok - this is my 'favourite line :frustrated::

'We stand behind our animal services staff - they provide an important and compassionate service to our city. Our team takes enormous pride in how we approach and interact with every family and their pets. This case has been no exception.'

Ok - this is absolutely ridiculous..oh yeah - I responded all right!

Compassionate??? My arse!

From that excellent article:

"Of course, they don’t mention the fact that they browbeat a 75-year-old lady, who doesn’t speak English very well and didn’t know her rights, into giving up her family pet. They don’t mention that, when the second dog owner stood up for his rights, he ended up facing six police cruisers, having the police break his door, and being physically manhandled while animal control officers took his dog.
They don’t mention that all of this was done without a warrant. The city’s "we must follow the law" stance seems to skip the part where they’re REQUIRED to obtain a warrant to seize a dog from a home!!"

This could happen to anyone of us folks... :wall:

It's cost the Branco's over $20,000 and both owners had to agree to restricted licenses; :( forced to agree to the "Potentionally Dangerous Dog Act", wear a muzzle, and put a red sign that says "Dangerous Dog" on their fences. More insult to injury, so much for justice!

Guess it was too hard for Brampton officials to say their sorry for the nightmares they caused the owners and their dogs, their family & friends, the community and for wasted tax paying dollars - WTG Mr Road Rage ...
