Has anyone tried this cat climber?

I've noticed that one of my new kittens likes to get high up. Whatever he is big enough to jump on, he tries. Chairs, full laundry baskets, shelves, piano benches, etc.... he just likes to perch! I'm looking for a good cat climber/tree. I'm not into the general cat trees/condos/climbers that are out there. I'd like something that looks less... rug covered!

I found this one on Amazon... I'm interested because it's also good for small spaces.

Has anyone tried this before? Pros? Cons?

I haven't used it but I going to see if I can get hubby to make something like that so the cats can reach the basement window in the rec room. :thumbs up

I don't know why someone would want to put it in a doorway though.

That's pretty neat - but what happens when you open/close the door? I guess it would work on doors that aren't frequently used, but I have this funny mental image of kitties going for a ride
