Mom says she saw you griping in another thread about
people being stingy with their bird pics this winter.

Well, I'm here to prove to you that English Setters are the most generous :angel:s on the planet.

I stole the camera and set up near the feeders, asking all my
birdy buddies to pose nicely for you...
and they did!!!!!

Ms Hairy Woodpecker:

Ms Red-bellied Woodpecker came for a chat and stayed for a little suet, too:

Pastor Dove stayed only long enough for a portrait
before flying off to attend to his ministry:
61452

Mr Purple Finch flew in to see what all the activity was about
61453
61454
and stuck around to exchange some gossip with those busybodies,
the Chickadees.

beautiful pictures Hazel oops I mean lil Belle

it's nice to see someone following in their mothers footstep and admiring birdies, and taking pictures to show everyone:thumbs up:thumbs up :lovestruck::cloud9::cloud9:

As always, I found the chickadees to be quite entertaining--
especially when they yelled at mom for letting the suet cage go empty! :dog:
61455

The Seed Feeder was still full, though--fun to watch them flutter!
61456

61457
And of course, they sing nice, too! :cloud9:

The Blue Jay Clan came down for pictures--they're such hams!
61459
But they're so darn LOUD!!!!
My tender ears twitch when they're talking to me. :dog:
61458
You daren't tell them that, though, or they get mad and won't talk anymore :o

And then, of course, there were the shy Birds that didn't want to cooperate at all.
But my mom says Chris will just keep griping till she sees 'em all,
so here ya go:
61461
61462

And, in a whole different category--marauding Toms.
They were too fun to pass up! :cloud9:
I chased them away!

"Hey, Lil Belle, bring the camera! There's another bird out here!!!"
61464

61465

61466
"Hmmm.... Never mind, Lil Belle! That doesn't look like a finch to me, Ms Macie!"

The End

:dog:

No more griping now, Chris

 You guys are just too impatient! Believe me, that many pics in just over half an hour? That's blazin' speed from here!

Glad you enjoyed Lil Belle's contribution to Chris's addiction! :D

I love the purple finches, aslan...but for some reason, just this male and one other have been to the feeders since the snow fell in December. I think they're all over at the in-laws. :D

The blue jays, on the other hand, were cooperating extraordinarily well for Lil Belle--they're much more skittish if I'm trying to take pics

Two beefs tho'..........I don't get Red Bellied Woodpeckers, nor do I hardly ever see Purple Finches let alone in winter :frustrated:

Your new camera Hazel takes wonderful photos, the wing flutter of the chickies is remarkable :thumbs up

Nope...you and Lil Belle just tapped me out...at least of good ones. :D I'm sure there will be more as the season progresses, though. I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I'm still snappin' lots of pics. :D Not now, though...gotta run! See you!

I love your blue jays :lovestruck: ....they're so much prettier than the stellar jays we get here. :thumbs up

hazelrunpack
January 15th, 2010, 06:49 PM
I think stellar jays are pretty and blue jays are a little drab... I guess it's all what you're used to. Everything else looks exotic! :D

I'll trade ya and I bet if we took a vote close to everyone would pick the blue jay as prettier. :D ....

But I think there's a close-up in here: http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=66694 They're so pretty! :flirt:

Aww Hazel, love the pics,I too get most of those birds, except the Purple Finch and my suet is always gone in a couple of hours.
Thank you,I love looking at birdie-pics,the deer was an added bonus:thumbs up

hazelrunpack
January 17th, 2010, 04:24 PM
If the deer didn't get the dogs a'barkin' in close quarters, I consider them a bonus, too! I love looking at them...I just hate the ringing in my ears afterwards from the Pack sending up the alarm about those  Sinister Does

Wow! Quite a variety of little nesters Hazel.

Blue Jays are my favorite and I especially love the last bird (uhmmm Doe!) :)

So was the camera set up on a tripod? The pictures look so crisp and clear.

Lovely snaps Lil Belle! :thumbs up

Lil Belle tried the tripod, but we couldn't get it adjusted low enough for her to see through the viewfinder! We did turn the vibration reduction feature on for the lens, though :thumbs up Worked like a charm. :dog:
