Xtra large dog crate-can anyone loan Jaida one?

:pray:Is there anyone in the Ottawa/Montreal/Cornwall/Brockville area (yeaaah, I get around ) who has like a St. Bernard-sized crate that they can loan me from mid-January until the end of the month? I'm going to need to keep Jaida quiet and separated from the other dogs (but not in another room or she'll freak out) and I think a crate would be the best route (she did well with this after her last surgery)...we only have Heidi-sized crates here and I'd like something roomier for her.

Little help?:D

Oh, crap! If only we were closer. We have a Dane-sized crate that we used when Evan had his elbow surgery. It would cost an arm and a leg to ship, though--the thing weighs a ton! :frustrated:

Thanks for looking, happycats! :D We already have 2 crates that size, though :o

Last time we borrowed one from our old pet sitter, but she passed away this year :rip:...it was HUGE and perfect for our needs. We'd really rather not buy one if possible, because it's really only for a week or two (max) of recovery time, Jaida isn't usually crated ('cause she's an  :D)

I may have one for you...it's larger than what our dogs use but don't have the exact measurements as I have it stored at my bil's. I do know that it's one size up from 42x28x31 (that's what our guys have) so it ought to be 48x30x33.

Is it 'cause the crates you have are too small for longer term?

If you have one Bos will fit in, I could swap you my Xtra large one...

Hmmm...if it fits Bos, it would be good for Jaida  I don't think our larger one would work, besides, it's rusty (metal without rubber covering)

Let me see if I can wrestle up another one. The larger ones are more common than the Xtra large ones...
I will let you know.
I just made peanut butter cookies, want one?
Gotta come to the dog park to pick it up..They are made with whole wheat and you wouldn't even know :)

Are there transport networks in place for crates? :o  I'd be willing to do up to a 100 mile leg...

hm, the one we have is 36x24x22...and Jaida dosn't fit in it, not to stand anyways...I don't know if only an extra 6 inches of head room would do it...maybe I'm imagining that the crate we had before was as huge as I remember it...I guess Jaida was only 7 months old at the time too. Hm. Maybe I should just take a few days off to stay home with her...

Aaaah, I'm probably over-worrying (what me, worry???) I'll be home with her for at least the first few days, I should be able to monitor things ok. (bites fingernails)

Let me check if my friend still has the one I gave him which is Mastiff size and if he still has it you may certainly borrow it, I will get back to you as soon as I talk to him.

would a metal pen/playpen do?
sort of like this but only 2 feet high?? not sure how many panels, its hanging up in the garage. very clean, barely used. I keep it for emergency animals, or would Jaida jump it?

I have a large metal crate that I used for Maddox. It is one size smaller than the largest. I live in Montreal - does this help you?

42" long I believe, Harley fits in it easily and he is 27" high and 100 lbs.

hmmm...I'm pretty sure wouldn't be ABLE to jump it, but I think she'd try, and stress out in the meantime.

Wow, guys, I have to say I'm really touched by the outpouring of offers to help here. This is why I love this board! :lovestruck::lovestruck::lovestruck:

Ok, so, I think what I'll do is chat with the vet, see what kind of recovery I can expect, and if she thinks I'm overreacting (which is very possible, according to DW :o) I WILL be home with Jaida for the first 3-5 days or so after the surgery...

I dunno, maybe I'm jumping the gun and don't really need a crate.
