Here are some pics of the baby TM's. the pics are from their 1 week birthday (last week)
Here is Hemi

December 3rd, 2009, 09:38 PM
Oh, I love behbehs.

Very adorable!

December 3rd, 2009, 09:39 PM

Magnum ( who should have been named Tank... he's the giant of the litter)

Tibby ( the second and final girl)

December 3rd, 2009, 09:40 PM
And last but definately not least is Titan. The super advanced little guy, first to crack open some baby blues and first to try to stand on his wobbly little legs.

December 3rd, 2009, 09:42 PM
Oh, they're darling! I didn't realize there were puppies in the works! So if Denali stays will you be showing her?

December 3rd, 2009, 09:44 PM
yes if she stays she will be her moms ring competiton. Although judging by growth thus far and general appearance Magnum may be our guy.
Still in the air who will be staying

December 3rd, 2009, 10:28 PM
If you hadn't posted their individual names, I would have thought all but one were the same puppy. They all have identical markings...white chins and toes :cloud9:.

December 3rd, 2009, 10:33 PM
5 are black and tans, starting to be more visable now and 4 are blacks, but all have white toes.
Diesel has a small black speck on the back of his neck, he's the only one who doesnt need a ribbon for identification

Awwww ....little baby fuzzballs. :cloud9:

December 5th, 2009, 08:46 AM
OH, first thing I thought of was that adorable little puppy grunt you get when you hold them close......I loves that.

I'm not good at telling all the breeds, especially when they are so new. What breed is this? They are beautiful puppers.

Sigh. I want one.

December 5th, 2009, 09:02 AM
May I show one of your babies to a group of ladies on another animal board I am on? I'd never take without asking.

December 5th, 2009, 09:56 AM
Sure Ryan, pictures are for sharing :D

They are Tibetan Mastiffs

December 5th, 2009, 10:21 AM

Could you tell us a little about your Tibetan Mastiff's? I :lovestruck: Mastiffs. They have taken over my heart, but the Tibetan Mastiff is not very common.
How did you get involved with them? What are they like?

December 5th, 2009, 12:38 PM
I love talking about them, all of the dogs so sure thing.
how I got involved in them is I had always had my heart set on an Akita or TM, after my rescue Puppy man crossed the bridge after a terrible battle with HD, arthritis and eventually liver problems I felt it was time for my dream dog.
I would have gone through rescue however, I wanted to show.

After searching and searching and talking to so many breeders I had problems finding the perfect Akita and breeder that I could talk to comfortably and get a great feeling from. There was one breeder who stood out and I had my heart set on a pup from an upcoming litter as I loved the parents and they had an amazing show record and lines. However, the litter was spoken for and any upcoming ones I had little interest in.

So for giggles I decided to check out TM breeders but never thought I would find one in Canada with out a specific line in the pedigree as the line has been known to have HD in it and after Puppy I couldnt go through it again. Out of no where I found Karmas breeder who oddly enough lives 3 hours from me. After talking with Lise and asking questions upon questions I knew i had found the breeder of my dreams. Karma was the pick pup and just because of what i wanted to do with her and my dreams of showing she got to stay in Canada. Most TM's are sold overseas or in the US from Canadian breeders, as they are not common or popular here at all.

I was warned by Lise that one TM quickly becomes 2 and so on as they are a breed of their own. And how true it is.
I'm glad I am not looking for an obiedience title for her as it just is not going to happen, they are strong willed and if you are asking something of them they may do it... but most likely will not. Kind of sucks that Karma cant be offleash with the others but I know she will not come when called, or prefer to think she wont and not chance it.

She is very protective over what she sees as hers, the house, the other dogs, the cats, us, her fluffy toy rabbit that is in tatters and more resembles a rag than anything else, ect. Her turf is her turf and she with out a doubt in my mind would protect it even if it meant losing her life. Its hard to introduce her to new people in her home, but can be done, more training on the new person than the dog though, as much as you want to smoosh her face and give her kisses while talking to her in baby talk you definately cant. She will come to you when shes ready.

Outside the home she is more than willing to meet new people and animals, kind of like Jekyl and Hyde.
TM's are also a very primative breed, very slow to mature mentally and physically, they dont usually look the way they are supposed to until close to 5 years of age, and they have a wonderfully long life span for a large breed and only one estrus per year ( big bonus for me). She hates heat, and will spend the whole summer in the basement if you let her, laying on the cement floor but come winter good luck convincing her she needs to come in the house at night as the neighbours are not fond of the constant night barking if she were to stay out.
they are also notorious wood chewers and diggers. Karma can dig a hole big enough to completely lay in with in minutes. tree roots, rocks you name it doesnt stand a chance when shes digging lol.
The one thing I absolutely love about Karmas temperament is that no matter how slow introductions to adults that come visit us are, kids are a completely different story. Its almost like in her eyes they are instantly seen as perfectly ok to have around and protect too as though they were hers.
I am absolutely head over heels for the breed now, no matter how much more work they seem to be to own. I dont see myself ever not owning one for the rest of my life.

Awwww, so adorable :lovestruck:. How is Karma handling being a momma?

December 6th, 2009, 04:40 PM
Thanks for the post Erykah! It was wonderful to hear about your puppies.
Can you post some pics of Karma too?

December 11th, 2009, 09:55 AM
This update may take some time to complete, photo sessions are not as easy to do anymore since the pups are moving around like crazy :D
I have called in for back up for this weeks photo session but did manage to get a few on my own (barely lol)
Everyone is doing amazing, the pups had their first introduction to a goats milk formula to give Karma a break and they all figured it out quickly. It was a big mess but so worth it to see them exploring new things.

Here is a pic of Karma taking a break in front of the messiest thing in the house. (sorry cant resize on the laptop and its all i use anymore)

Here's Mr. Matrix, he's our quiet and willing guy. He will just do what ever and not put up any fuss at all.

Mr.Magnum, our "big guy" he was the loudest in the litter but now that he can hear himself he seemed to have got on his own nerves, he rarely sais boo anymore but is our adventurist.

December 11th, 2009, 09:57 AM
Here is Denali snoozing on the couch ( I had to take the 2 girls and do them seperately for their new owners)

And little sister Tibby with much darker tan points and much less of them too.

December 11th, 2009, 10:22 AM
Dang...I can't download the latest picture over my crappy connection :frustrated:

How long before you'll have to make your final puppy pick? Is Denali still 'in the lead', so to speak :D

ETA: Oh, wait--I just saw the text in the last post about having to take separate pics of the girls for their new owners! Does that mean Denali is leaving?

December 11th, 2009, 10:44 AM
It does seem like Denali will be leaving, but to a show home atleast. Not 100% yet as we still have to do evaluations on them once they are bigger.
Even now, where Magnum was looking like the pick, it seems little Titan is making quite an entrance in the world as he grows.Matrix too is developing into quite a looker. Its so neat seeing them develop like this.

Karma looks like a Newf in that picture, is she larger than a Newf would be? She's beautiful. As for the pups, nope, I couldn't pick one! Sorta like chips huh.

December 11th, 2009, 03:51 PM
Nope shes not larger than a newf, shes shorter. Black TM's do resemble Newfs though especially the heavier coated TMs, however Karmas tail curls on her back, unlike newfs :D

December 11th, 2009, 05:01 PM
Those are some cute puppies.must be nice to be around all that cuteness.

Karma has really turned into a very gorgeous girl.:lovestruck::cloud9:

December 11th, 2009, 06:46 PM
wow what little beauties they are!!! i didn't know you breed them as well. So are you keeping one of the babies? Can't wait to see more pics of them!

December 11th, 2009, 07:05 PM
this is my first litter bred under mentorship of Karmas breeder and another in the US. I am looking to keep one of them, had hoped to keep a female but it looks like we will be keeping a male and getting another male from mentor number 2 depending on what her litter has.
