Rest in peace - Cody

It is with a very heavy heart I write here today. I haven't posted much on pets.ca lately, but I visit almost daily.

Today, I have sad news to share. Cody, our 18 1/2 yr old cat died yesterday.

He has not been very well for sometime, on meds for his thyroid and most recently some kidney issues. Last week he caught a cold or slight upper respiratory problem that passed around here, from one cat to the other. The others are all fine now but they are so much younger than Cody.

Cody was born on May 1, 1991 and I held him when he was just a day old and "adopted" him that day. He came home 6 or so weeks later. He has been the older "brother" to so many in this household and will be missed so badly by his moms.

He died here at home, while he rested and slept, so my wish for a peaceful death was granted. It was so difficult to watch him go, but we were glad to be at his side.

Rest in peace our little buddy, Cody, Code-man. We love you and will miss you so much.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You are so lucky to have had him with you for so long. I'm glad he was able to go peacefully, knowing how much he was loved.

I am so sorry Diane. :grouphug: Cody looked to be a wonderful soul. I'm sure he's teaching the young bucks at the Bridge how to behave. He lived a wonderful life with you and his other mom. I know you will both miss him. :grouphug:
