I wanted to post these photos for Isold. My Rikus looked so much like her baby, Isold. Boy, do I miss this cat. Looking at Isold today made me want to look through my photos of Rikus. I had avoided them because I just start crying when I see them. These photos were taken the day before he passed. He passed at my side.
For some reason I just knew his time was limited. I took him outside to smell the flowers and walk around, he was an indoor cat.
OKay, I'm sobbing now. Argh

I really find myself missing him a lot lately. I love our new rescued kitties. But the attachment isn' the same. I hope it builds. I mean, it's just not Rikus, ya know? He was our buddy in so many way. Ugh. Getting teary.

He's a gorgeous boy. I'm so sorry, Ryan! :grouphug:
We love all our furbabies, but the soulmates have a special place in our hearts. Just remember that your love binds you together and even death can't keep you apart. You'll see him again, ultimately. I firmly believe that!

Very beautiful behbeh. I always say that I don't think they go far. Our new rescue even does things our Minnie :rip: used to do. Sometimes they send a new friend to help ease the pain.

You are fortunate you were able to spend his last moments with him.... :candle:

Rikus was really beautiful. He reminds me of a lion with his long, fringed coat :flirt:
I think pet lovers love all their pets, but every so often we find a soul mate. I only have dogs in my house, but every so often one of our dogs is special to our family in a different way than the others.
My husband had a very special bond with our last Rottweiller and when she passed he was very affected. We now have three dogs, whom we love, but it is a different relationship for him.
I have found a soul mate in my rescued Mastiff. I keep saying, he is me- but a dog, a big slobbery dog :D
Pets are strange and mysterious, and I guess I am trying to say, that yes, you will bond with your new pet, but Rikus may remain an unequalled love for a long time.

Thank you, everyone. I know you all understand the empty feeling. I put Rikus in my yard and a new tree over him. For some reason I can go days without too much emotion then days like today where I've sobbed most of the day.
We have decided that because Rikus was an eater, he was 30 lbs when we adopted him, that he must be channeling Charlie. All Charlie wants to do is eat. We really have to watch him.
I appreciate your kind thoughts. Hugs

Awww Ryan, what a beauty he was,a wonderful big orange boy:lovestruck:
We love all our animals, but then there is that special one,who seems almost human, who senses how we feel and bonds with us on a very special level.
I always say,our kitties are small in stature, but when they are gone, leave a huge empty space in our hearts.

Thank you, Chico. You hit the nail right on the head. As much as we adored, loved and worshiped Rikus , I never knew how much until recently.
I know this should have been, and I did put it under the "passing thread" I really wanted to show his photo, though. I'm still learning the way around here and sometimes place things in the wrong spot :(
your kindness means a lot. I did not have my little lion sitting in the kitchen near me as I made dinner tonight. He knew enough to stay put on a chair watching. Charlie wants to jump up on the stove so we have to keep him out totally while I cook.
