Hey,
My upstairs where Lindy hangs out with us is hardwood(pretty funny comming around the corner at a full run!!!!). I do have an area rug in the living room. Any ideas why she feels the need to scratch at the rug before lying down? I see her doing it with her blanket from time to time? Is she trying to make her bed?

It's to make a soft spot for her to lay down. If you put a blanket there, she will scratch the blanket into a ball and lay on it probably :D

As Luba said, she would do the same with a blanket. She is making a nest. Its natural for animals and totally normal.
