Ive never done this before, so im not sure where to start.
But I want to raise money for the shelter that took the kittens today. It really is the least I could do.
Hopefully I can get enough to get them all fixed. That may be a little too optimistic but i would like to atleast contribute.
So, any Idea's?:o
I live in a smaller area, so I will try to do what i can with what I have.

Garage sale. Book and DVD sale. You can do a little assignment at school and maybe this may add to the awareness as well.
On your birthday, ask for donations made to the shelter in lieu of gifts.

I like the assignment at at school!
Do you have a mall where you live? Maybe making up some posters with the kittens pictures on it, with a table for yourself to sit at - set up somewhere close to where people frequent could help get a few donations for you.

BM, I read in one of the "Animal Shelter' Magazines that some fundraisers once spent the day in a dog crate to show what it was like being crated for a day, they garnered pledges......I don't know if you are up to something like that :o

is there a farmer that would donate pumpkins for a pumpkin carving contest, advertise it a week in advance, see if a store will donate a prize or two for the winner, you could have different age categories....bake pumpkin shaped cookies for the non winners, charge 5 dollars or whatever to enter which includes the pumpkin? you could even just use markers so the little ones wouldn't have to cut them out and they get to take home the pumpkin

BM you could make up little wooden or plastic boxes and advertise the shelter / rescue. Then take some to the stores in your area and see if they will allow you to leave them at the cash for a couople of weeks to get some donations.
You could also ask friends and family if they have items that they want to donate to a garage sale and have a mega garage sale!
50/50 draw
raffle of some kind with doanted prizes

not quite sure what is available around you, but go to restaurants, walmart, toysrus, petvalue or whatever pet chain,, explain what it's for and ask for a small donation, gift certificate, etc.. then have a silent auction..you could also go to local contractors, painters, etc and ask them to donate, most will as it's a way to drum up business.

Bake sales are also a great idea :) Macomom currently has a thread about it here. Get a few people together to bake up some goodies to sell, donate the funds to the shelter. Adding the baked goods to a yard/book/rummage sale is also a good idea :)
