Hairloss in Rescued Cat

We rescued a cat about a week ago. When we got him I noticed 2 things- 1) the hair around his eyes was thin and 2) he is a long haired cat and there were patches of fur around his neck that seemed to just be the undercoat- shorter, soft hair.
About 4 days after we got him I woke up to find that the hair was completely gone above his left eye... like where his eyebrow or eyelid is.
His skin is very healthy looking, he doesnt seem to be itching much... I'm baffled.. I don't know if the 2 are related, or if they are 2 different things..

Does he groom a lot? Hairloss can be from overgrooming from stress.

For sure could be allergies, what do you feed him?

You will have to take him to be seen by a vet to rule out anything underlying, dermatitis, ringworm ect. Is it itchy to him? Good luck!

Was he wearing a collar when you got him? Often cats who wear collars long term will loose the outer longer guard hairs around the collar and have either no fur or just the shorter undercoat.

Furloss around the neck is also commonly seen with food allergies or fleas.
