could anyone tell me what drug a vet uses to put a dog to sleep as i have just had my dog put to sleep and wonderd what drug it was

here's what I found on the internet about it.

Euthanization is, very simply, an overdose of an anesthetic. Because of the drug used (Phenobarbital), it is typically painless for the dog.

I'm so sorry for your loss, John :grouphug:

There is a forum here for pets that have passed away if you would like to put up a tribute to your dog.

I wish you had found us under better circumstances, but welcome to the board.

I too am very sorry for your loss. From what I recall (years ago I did a high school co-op placement at a vet clinic), the drug is called Euthanol.
