one red eye one blue eye? what do you mean? his eyes are originally blue and one of them is red with infection? you haven't really explained anything, and you've said that you can't take your pet to the vet -- so how is anyone supposed to help you? if you kitty really is sick, you're going to have to find the money and you're going to have to go to the vet. Have you talked to your parents about your kitty? (I'm guessing you're fairly young, right?)

If the kitten doesn't eat it will die
Where is the mother cat?

This kitten is dying and does not deserve to suffer this way. At least take it to the humane society and don't let it linger.

Do you know that a 2 week old kitten must nurse many times a day and needs special formula?

Why did you get a pet if you can't afford to take care of it and are going to let it suffer and die slowly?

This is just terrible and is also ILLEGAL!

I agree! How did you come accross a 1 week old kitten anyways? Were there any others? And where is the mum? Take it directly to a vet or shelter and surrender it so they can nurse it back to health!! Kittens that young can't eat real cat food yet and need special nourishment!! You are killing this cat that doesn't deserve this. I say take it to a shelter and when the kitten is up for adoption and you can afford to have a cat, then think about getting it back. If you can't afford a kitten, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN ONE!!!! No one on this site can help you, YOU MUST GO TO THE VET OR A SHELTER ASAP!!!!!!

At "one week and three days old", would this kitten's eyes even be open already? (Help me out, Cat People......I'm honestly asking).

Did you force this kitten's eyes open?

Are you trolling?

Are you for real?????

Yes, Cactus Flower!! That's what was sooo weird about the post. I couldn't put my finger on it exactly -- the eye colour thing was weird, the fact that there was no mention of a mother or other kittens was weird -- but the fact that the eyes are open is really weird!!! And how does this person know how much a one-week old kitten should be eating? S/he doesn't seem responsible enough to find out through research... We should put an end to this thread right away!

Good point! This is really scary to think that a little innocent kitten is suffering at some idiot's hands.....It's just soooo sad!!! :(

Kittens can start opening their eyes at 10 days. For once, I WISH this was a troll post.

thanks for the page on troll, I didn't know what a troll was either. I thought that trolls were ugly little creatures from norwegian sp? folk lore.

I'm a soldier stationed in Iraq. We recently discovered some kittens, I'm guessing about 3-4wks old, near where we work. The mother cat is still there at times but not all the time. There are 6 kittens and about 3 of them are getting pretty bad eye infections; One of them has both eyes completely shut at this time. They're eyes seem to get red and puffy at first then swell until they're closed with a layer of junk on them. Being in a war zone I'm not to sure there's much in the way of veterinary services here. I'm looking for some advice on some kind of drops I might be able put in their eyes to help with these infections and any information somebody might have; ie: how serious this is; how long before there might be some permanent damage etc.
I have three cats of my own at home and just hate to see these kittens with this problem.
Thanks for the assistance.
