Ick it smells!

It's my own fault. I knew that one of the gang was slightly missing the box and hitting the wall, upstairs and downstairs. I have been meaning to buy some puppy pads to put up on the wall, in case they kept missing. But I've been lazy and I also forgot.

Well, today i noticed someone got some pee outside the box that's in the litter cabinet. Oy! I cleaned it up as best I could with some vinegar and water, but now I feel like the whole apartment smells like pee!:yuck:

Tomorrow I have to not only get the pads, but I have to get some cleaner to get the smell out. Ick!

Rubbing alcohol? Hmm. I'll get some tomorrow. Thanks! At this point, I don't know if it's just me that thinks it smells or if it really does smell:laughing: But regardless, I'm going to make some of this wonder potion and use it tomorrow.

Thanks!

Oh, that's just plain white vinegar right?

AG I had a similiar problem lately with my 2.. well 1 I know it was Bomber..he likes to pee in the corner of the box and when he does he pees over the edge! thank god I have a rubber mat that catches it but I had a hard time figuring out what to do?? I put less litter in....didnt work...then I tilted the litter box higher on the end he pees at and it worked for a couple of days..I have looked all over at litter boxes and there is nothing really deep...

I was talking to DH about it and he said why dont you try a rubbermaid storage container??:lightbulb: so I went to the store and bought one that is the perfect depth..I was worried there was no opening for them to go in and it doesnt matter they just jump in ( i watched them to make sure)

I had to close the bedroom off yesterday because of Tabitha too! she pee'd again in Winston dog crate! it has a large rubber pad and it is now ruined! her pee has a slight odour to it too! funny thing is I ran out of filiway last week and she has been acting like a pain in the a%$ since....I received the new one today so hopefully it kicks in quick!

Poor Winston just stands there looking at the door and wondering why he cant go it?? he likes to sleep in there cause it is really cool in the basement!

Anyway do you have any cinamon or cloves? even vinegar just boil some water and throw the stuff in and boil it for awhile..makes the smell go away!

Well, I hate to point the finger, but I really suspect it's Maks. I actually saw him one day. The box I have in the kitchen is covered so that one isn't an issue. I haven't been able to find a rubbermaid box that will fit in the area I have the current ones. I'm going to keep looking though. But I think in the meantime, I'll see how the pads work. I can line the wall and the floor for the time being.

If you want to clear the air also you can mix baking soda, some water and maybe some lemon if you want. Put in a spray bottle and have fun.

As a rubbermaid container user I say it's the way to go. One of my cats was peeing high and this was my solution. I was worried, too, that they wouldn't jump up that high but all five of them do just fine. There is almost no tracking of kitty litter either. :thumbs up

AG, I know you said you don't have room where the boxes are but just keep it in mind for the future anyway.

Thanks guys! I'm going to keep looking around to see if I can find something that will fit in the area.

AG,I have rubber-maid boxes too,but Rocky somehow, sometimes, manages to stand up and pee on the wall:frustrated:
It's not a huge deal,it's downstairs,but I pour baking-soda on the wet spot and later sweep it up+clean it with LP'S vinegar-solution.

Yup, it works wonders for me too with little Rosebud who seemed to prefer the floor beside her litterbox.

I don't know how I missed that recipe, but you bet I'll be trying it too!:thumbs up

AG- I know when I get someone who 'misfires' I think I smell it all over the house, I think more likely though the scent is so strong it clings to my nasal passages or something!:yuck: With my guys it's usually just an accident as I've never seen one aim any higher than the box, but I know that if I skip a night of scooping by more than 10 hours, I WILL have a purposeful puddle to show me Windy's disgust!:laughing:

Yeah, I likely just was used to it and thought I smelled it all over. I didn't smell it when I went down this morning.

I know it's done by accident. First because I've seen Maks doing it, and it's not that he does it on purpose. He's just too close to the edge and not crouched all the way down.

I'm going to measure under the master bath vanity, which is where I have the one upstairs, and I'm going to measure the cabinet downstairs. Next time I go to Target I'll have a look at the containers and see if I can find one that's high.
