Dex's one month anniversary!!

thought I would give a little update on how well Dexter has been doing! Wow...one month.....can't believe the changes in him. He is a little:evil:

I was a little worried about him a little while back, I noticed he wasn't too keen on jumping. He just didn't want to do it, and would look for an escape route on foot rather than jumping over something. Then the one day he tried to jump from the stairs to the dining room table.....and he fell:eek: and he didn't land on his feet!!! I couldn't stop thinking of all the bad things that could cause that.

So I kept my eye on him and I guess it was just a side effect of growing up in a crate......he didn't know how to jump. A little while later he was zooming around upstairs, came flying down the stairs and cleared the dining room table, landed in the living room on his feet and kept going. He successfully cleared at least 12 feet..........and all I thought was OH OH we are in trouble now!!!

He also found out that he can use his back feet to kick the snot out of Zoe's nose when they play. Zoe doesn't seem to mind, she keeps going back and slapping her nose of his belly so he wraps his arms around her snout and kicks. And he likes to bite her ears......I can't believe how good they are together.

He had his first taste of catnip:eek: I found out never give a young cat catnip later in the evening.......three o'clock in the morning and he was still crazy. Dex and Phoebe are still in a love/hate relationship, they have had a couple go rounds, nothing serious, just lots of noise from Phoebe and Dex takes the abuse like a champ. Then they follow each other around for awhile...and then start all over with the noise. I secretly think she likes him, but is playing hard to get.

We have a couple bad habits to take care of. His lump on his back is almost gone:thumbs up, wish his hair on his bum would grow back (a bald behind looks so sad) He has slowed down on his eating. He greets anyone who comes in the house, my neice and nephew came over and carried him everywhere and he just laid in their arms purring.

So glad I could give him a home........he is just an awesome additon.....love him to peices.

He's such a cutie! He sounds like my Maks. OMG, Maks jumps from high up on the stairs down to the sofa. LOL, then he jumps from the litter cabinet behind the stairs up through the steps! When he gets the zoomies, stand back!

Dex really is a wonderful addition to your home.

Just one thing, be super careful of letting him walk on the stove, even though it's not on. You don't want him to think it's okay, then one day you might have a hot burner and don't notice he might be walking up there. That's the one place my gang know is off limits on the counter area.

LOL that photo! It looks like you caught him right in the middle of doing something he knows he's not supposed to be doing!!

Oh yes he knows he isn't suppost to be on the stove!!! Or routing around in the kitchen cabinets, and throwing the groceries on the floor. I was actually taking pics of Zoe and when I came around the corner, there he was. So I took the picture and then took him down and scooted him away.

If you notice in the pic, I am so OCD that I take the knobs off my stove if I am not going to be using the burners. I was getting ready to make supper so a few knobs are on.:o

The backdoor and the stove are two habits he will be broken of shortly.....I hope.

That's a good idea actually to take the knobs off. I have a gas stove, I'd be nervous about taking the nobs off. But they are all very good about not getting on the stove. The few times one of them does, they get "freaky mom" coming after them. LOL, I figure if I scare them enough they won't do it again.

He's fitting in so well! :cloud9: From the sound of it, I think he's just as pleased as Zoe is that he's her new kitty. :D

Dexter is so darn cute!! I thought he was bigger than he looks on the stove pic. You can buy child proof knobs for the stove so u don't have to take them off all the time.

I'm glad he and zoe are getting along so well. Do u tell Dexter no claws when he is scratching zoe's nose and no biting? I tell mine no claws and no biting with Tegan. Just to remind them about manners.
