Monkey's (my cat) tooth looks odd - going to the vet today

I was looking at monkey’s teeth yesterday and noticed that the back tooth (the wide one – not sure what it’s called) looks greyish (it looks like it is grey from the inside and not due to anything on the surface). So I am already freaking out thinking maybe its rotting or something and he will need to have it extracted. Maybe it’s just a cleaning or maybe nothing at all….. I scheduled an appointment with our vet today so she can take a look at him but it’s at 6:20 and its only 12:03 :o a long time when I have to wait and hear what she thinks about this….

I am just starting to freak out and that always sends me into a non stopping cycle of ‘what ifs’. I am also starting to get a bit worked up because I am anticipating the vet trying to talk me into the dental food which always leaves me anxious and drained.... She is a great vet, I have been very happy with her so far on everything except that….

Anyone has experienced similar issues with their cat’s teeth?

Masha no worries..Monkey will be fine.

Tabitha has a few teeth like that but they dont seem to bother her! I think it bothers the vet more!

well, looks like his teeth need a cleaning, but interestingly it was not the two teeth that looked odd to me that the dr. didnt like (she said the greyish staining often happens due to the food they eat and that he just has abit of tartar on these teeth but otherwise they are fine), it was two other teeth that she didn't like - the gums are a bit pinkish above them and there is
plaque/tartar on them so he needs a cleaning and a *possible* (she doenst think it will come to that but it may.....) extraction of these two teeth because of the pinkiness on the gum it may have kitty cavities in them (she explained its not exactly like people caivites, etc adn that she can only verify this once she cleans the teeth and is able to see whats below the plaque/tartar).

She didnt push the dry hill's which was great too.

so all in all i understand teeth cleaning is fairly minor, but as always i am sure i will be freaking out a lot.... will keep you posted!
