Strange Behavior After Visit To Vet 2 Weeks Ago

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I need some help. I have 3 year old dog. I would tell you her breed if we knew it, so I guess shes a mutt. Shes always been a very energetic and social dog. A couple weeks ago, she had been having some diherrea problems, so we took her to the vet. She needed shots for routine stuff you know, and some medication for the diherrea. We finished the meds and everything seemed back to normal.
This past week, a few days after the medication ended, she has been acting funny. She seems very unsocial. She'll spend all day upstairs in one of my family members beds, crying until she falls asleep. Well not crying, it seems that it starts when she knows one of us is around, as if to let us know something is wrong. When shes not crying shes breathing very fast. She is also keeping her toys with her. I walked her the other day and she would'nt leave the house with out her stuffed hedgehog. Its beginning to worry myself and my family and we don't know what to do. If anyone has had this problem, could you please help us out. Thank you.

Johnny,I think she is trying to tell you she is not well,it could be related to the shots, she'll nned to see the vet again.
Good Luck and Welcome to our Forum:fingerscr

I would agree with Chico. Heavy breathing often indicates discomfort, or downright pain. It's not normally advisable to give a dog vaccinations when they are sick, so the combination of those shots and the meds could've been too much.

Did your vet take a stool sample or do any testing before they gave you the meds?

Just on the off chance .. is she spayed? The reason I ask is that if she is intact, she may be exhibiting symptoms of a false pregnancy (carrying around the toy and keeping it with her may be a case of her treating her toy like a puppy). In any case, it is best to get this checked out with the vet.

It sounds to me like she is going through a false pregnancy. Normally it happens to un-spayed females but I once had it happen to a female that had just been spayed.
Just to be sure I would have her checked by your vet.

It sounds like she is having some pain, maybe the vet can palpate her and find the source.
