14+kitties June 18th, 2009, 10:33 AM I just got Ace and Ajax fixed on Sunday. They are recouping quite well in their crate in our garage. Still very feral. I don't think I have a choice but to release them. It breaks my heart to even think about it.
Last night I had the trap set as always. I knew there had been something coming in to eat in the greenhouse. I keep Stormy's food in there and she doesn't eat near as much as what was disappearing. Guess what I found this morning......
Pretty sure it's a boy. I "think" I saw those dangling participles when hubby lifted the trap up high enough for me to check. He is painfully thin. Devoured a can of food in about 2 minutes. He is now settled in the garage next to Ace and Ajax. I think there may be hope for this one. He let me touch him. :fingerscr
TacoGrl June 18th, 2009, 11:49 AM He is adorable! He has even worn his bib when he came to eat :D
ancientgirl June 18th, 2009, 11:53 AM That's too bad about Ace and Ajax. Maybe they'll still come around. Are they somewhat safe around your property?
The new little guy is adorable. Hopefully he's friendly.
14+kitties June 18th, 2009, 01:49 PM TacoGrl, you are right. He had a bib just like a few of my others.
AG - the way our property is there is about an acre of land between the road and the bush behind us. Probably half of our 19 acres is bush. I have a feeling that is why there are so many cats coming out of the woodwork, literally. There are lots of hiding spots back there. We do have coyotes. And deer. They will be as safe as they can be in those situations. I am still going to have the crate in the garage for them and food of course.
I am planning on setting the trap back closer to the bush to see what happens very soon. I need hubby to cut a path in the fields back to the bush for me first though. The tics are really bad this year and they love long grass!
14+kitties June 18th, 2009, 02:21 PM So I just talked to hubby about building another small pen structure like he did for KMK for these guys and the new one. I don't want to release them back to the bush if I can help it but sometimes it's the best you can do for these ferals. He is *thinking about it*. :D
A lot of the programs around do exactly what I would be doing if I released them. They are fixed so they can't reproduce and then let go back to the area they came from. Let's hope hubby thinks fast!!
ancientgirl June 18th, 2009, 02:27 PM I'll keep my fingers crossed hubby says yes. You are both such good people.
chico2 June 18th, 2009, 04:46 PM Aww 14+,the poor guy looks really skinny,but he's ended up in kitty-haven:lovestruck:
Honestly,I think Ace and Ajax would be ok if you let them go,chances are they would remember where the food is.:fingerscr

I am just a worrywart. Now that I know they are out there if I do release them I will worry all the time about them.
I saw a pure black kitty tonight. Have never seen him before. I went out to see if I could get close but he took off like a shot.
TwinTails June 18th, 2009, 10:53 PM Oh he is beautiful! I keep getting the name Tao tossed at me - I think he's going to love you very very much :lovestruck:
Tundra_Queen June 19th, 2009, 04:24 AM 14+ he is adorable, but he is so very skinny. Poor little guy. I hope he learns to trust u and realizes u just want to help him.
Tell hubs I think he is a wonderful, loving human being to build all these scared, starving mistreated, helpless creatures such a beautiful and safe home. He really should get a huge medal!

Thanks TQ! I tell him that all the time. I will let him know what you said. :grouphug:
chico2 June 19th, 2009, 08:27 AM 14+,of course letting A&A go is not what anyone wants, much less someone like you:sad:
Maybe they would be ok in an enclosure or maybe they'd go bonkers cooped up,we don't really know,do we??
At least they have each other,I trust you completely to do what is right, you've already done so much for them:grouphug:
Hmmm,a black kitty in your catuary would be nice:cat:
hazelrunpack June 19th, 2009, 11:43 AM Oh, he's a handsome little guy, 14+! He actually let you touch him? I wouldn't have expected that from his expression... :o He looks a little miffed... :p
Kudos to your hubby for being so accommodating to all these little furries--and bless your heart for being willing to take them in! :goodvibes:
Winston June 19th, 2009, 04:07 PM 14+ OMG! how the heck are you gonna manage? he looks alot like your guys? could he be one of their daddys?

I know he looks miffed but I think he was just frightened. I petted him a little bit through the bars today before I went to work. I suspect I will probably get a couple of good scratches from him before he realizes I am not going to hurt him but still get a good feeling from him.
14+ OMG! how the heck are you gonna manage? he looks alot like your guys? could he be one of their daddys?
I guess Winston I manage the same way I have been. I can't turn them out.
I think this little fella is too young to be a daddy yet. Or at least a daddy to my other ones. I may be wrong. He has humungus feet but is still pretty small. Like he hasn't grown into his feet yet. 'Course that could be because he is full of worms. I guess when he goes to get snipped I will find out. The vet is pretty good at estimating ages.
growler~GateKeeper June 19th, 2009, 11:36 PM Aw jeez this little one is so skinny :sad:
Your husband is the best for even just considering building more enclosures! :grouphug:
:fingerscr This one is open to human contact & :goodvibes: Ace & Ajax realize what a good thing they've got goin' one & relax around you
14+kitties June 20th, 2009, 02:45 PM Hubby is almost ready to start building. :thumbs up I just have to give him the money and he will start buying supplies. So in another few weeks :fingerscr I can move Ace, Ajax and the new fella out to their new home. :) He is building it bigger than KMK's so it can hold more kitties with an enclosed area at both ends of it for shelter from weather.
Yes peeps, I know. He is the best! :lovestruck:
ancientgirl June 20th, 2009, 03:00 PM That's wonderful!! You and hubby are just truly amazing for all you do for those kitties. :grouphug:
chico2 June 20th, 2009, 03:39 PM He certainly is and don't tell me he does not care,he does, even for those kitties.
Give him a huge hug for Fathers Day from us,he is the ultimate father, not only to his sons but all the kitties too:grouphug:
