How many share their bed with their pets?

I was curious as to how many of us here actually share out beds with our pets. I for one have no problem sharing with my gang. As a matter of fact, I sleep better with them. It's funny though, because they have their own little patterns.

Vlad - He will have days where he will just sleep downstairs by himself, and other times he will sleep on the pillow that's on top of one of my night stands. And yet sometimes he'll sleep right next to my pillow, with his paw on my shoulder.

Oksana - Usually sleeps in the closet. But, at one point during the night, she will hop up on the bed and either sleep next to my pillow or cuddle next to me.

Maks - Is one of the three that are constant. I sleep either on my back or on my side. Maks will always jump up on the bed and settle himself on my left side next to my thigh. If I'm on my side, he'll get comfy right against my butt.

Kiska - Will start off at the foot of the bed, but when she thinks I'm asleep, she'll slowly crawl up and settle herself to my right, just at my hip.

Czari - Will walk across my tummy a couple of times, then walk up my left arm, start kneading at my upper arm, then get herself comfy and wrap her paw around my arm and lay her head on my shoulder.

The only time I actually push them off the bed is if they are fighting on the bed. If I do this a few times, they know if they are on the bed they can't be fighting.

I love sleeping with my cats. I love feeling their purrs as they are falling asleep next to me. I love that they feel so safe with me that they want to fall asleep next to me. Knowing that they trust me that much makes me feel beyond wonderful. I know that having them on my bed doesn't exactly help me with my allergy issues, but I can live with it.

I do, I do :goodvibes:.

Because of the fur, I have to change the top sheet I throw over the comforter every day but it's so worth it :lovestruck:. I sleep like a baby when they are all in bed with us :cloud9:.

Sheeba HAS to sleep next to me and does not want to be anywhere else, but Sandy doesn't like getting up on the bed and prefers to sleep on a couple of blankets on the floor.

I agree with those who find it comforting and soothing to share the bed with their furry loved ones. I have 4 kitties, all who have their own spot in the bed at different times during the night. Even if they are not in the bed itself, they are never far away during the night either sleeping next to the bed or just outside the door.
It is actually quite funny when they hear the TV click off at night and they all make a race upstairs to stake their night time claims in the bedroom.
Does it cause a bit more laundry? No doubt, but isn't it worth it?:D:cat:

I, too, share my bed with my Misty cat. On the nights she wants to sleep with me, if I don't show up at the usual time, she comes, sits and stares at me, If I still insist on not coming she makes little "meep" noises until I give in.

Sparky will wait for Max to come on the bed, otherwise, he gets off and goes looking for him. LOL

These days Max prefers the window, as its been hotttt, but no fail, he will come on the bed in the we hours of the morning and lay across my feet. Sometimes, I wake up coz the both of them are sprawled across the foot of the bed, and my husband and I can't reallly move.

I have this cover blankie across the bed, so in the spots where Max goes you would see a round spot of black hair..LOL

:laughing:Mine do the same thing. I could be upstairs in bed watching TV, and as soon as the TV and lights turn off, I can feel them jumping on the bed one by one settling in.:cloud9:

Absolutley!! Last night my daughter was sick, DH was working so she slept in my bad, which means so does her cat, that usually sleeps with her, my little boythen had to sleep there too, that means my lab comes, who sleeps with him, Gucci my little dog was there of coarse, and the 2 other cats jumped up, my daughters cat is not fond of the fosters, but as long as she has personal space she is fine so she was cuddled with my daughter one cat on the pillow and one on the end of the bed with Gucci, was a full bed!! When I got gucci as a little guy I wanted him to sleep with me, next to me, but even from a young age every time he got the chance he would move down the my feet, still does, I want him to cuddle, maybe it is to hot for him, I try to convince him, but it never works for long..

I would never have it any other way, this is their house to so they can sleep wherever they choose, each of my kids have a fur friend to sleep with. Tickles my daughters cat waits for her to come home, and curls up near her when she plays barbies and is waiting meaowing on the bed at bedtime, she hears about it if she is late getting out of the bath, never leaves her at night.

When I had my first daughter I got a JRT just so I could have a little dog to sleep in her room just in case any bad people came in her window she would bark. That little dog was the best dog ever, I know people have trouble with some JRT's but we sure did not, that dog never left my daughters side, until that tragic day.... I WANT dogs in my kids rooms for that reason, they will bark if there are intruders, makes me feel safer. My daugher was born the summer that Elizabeth Smart went missing, made me so paranoid....

I love my fur kids.. A LOT, they deserve no less, I would feel like I was treating them like some second class family member if I locked them away for my own reasons, I understand some dogs must sleep in a kennel, I have had a dog like that too, would have a destroyed house if I didn't, but if they behave and sleep I just couldn't do it, I truly feel they are a family member like everyone else in this house.

I do. Coco is always sleeping with me. He has his spots, either on the pillow beside me, right beside me..reserved for winter mostly, or at the foot of the bed. Bobee, doesn't always sleep with me but if he does, he has to sleep on me..which is fine but I wish he wouldn't step on my bladder, especially in the AM!! He seems to know exactly where to step, personally I think it's a quick get mom out of bed ploy!! Bayley doesn't but she is welcome to come for a snuggle in the morning, which she usually does.

:D If I didn't have the sound of purring in stereo around my head I don't think I could fall asleep. Best nights are when it is pouring rain and the sound of the rain on the roof and two little motorboats purring away.

Both Phoebe and Amos start at the head, of course they each pick a hand and get their nightly lovins. Amos picks a leg and crushes up against it to do his nightly noisy grooming. Phoebe sleeps at my head. Amos will then pick a spot, small of my back, against my leg....what ever he feels is comfortable and goes to bed.

Of course they both have nights where they demand to be let under the covers and keeping poking me in the face until I give in. It's like two little furnaces under the blankets.

Zoe(dog) just jumps up for kisses goodnight, and to steal a lick of minty toothpaste smell. She isn't a big bed sleeper, she prefers her doggy bed. But she has crawled in some nights and puts her head on the second pillow and tucks her nose into my neck.

The new kitty, Dexter, well he is more than welcome to join the crew. Right now he is off exploring while the house is quite. I imagine he will find a spot and fit right in, then three little motor boats will be purring away:cloud9:

Brina sleeps with us, most nights she starts out on the couch but then with in the hour she's on the bed, hubby puts her at the end and she slowly inches her way up between us and puts her head on my chest, technically she is at the foot of the bed...well her feet are because she stretches right out to sleep like a person does

all 4 kitties sleep in the bed with us but not the dogs they have their own bed on the floor beside us, Currie gets to hot, Brandy is a bed hog and Petey has never shown any intrest about our bed but he does sleep on my stepdaughters sometimes:cloud9:

Bedhogs! LOL, omg yes. Maks is a total bedhog! Sometimes he sleeps sideways, which means he takes up most of the bed. They will all stretch out too at points during the night, which I find very cute.

I'm a fairly new cat owner (just over 3 months YAY) and Izzy does sleep in my bed. She starts off on the floor w/her head resting on the base of her scratching post. Sometime during the night she gets on the bed and sleeps at the foot of the bed. When my alarm goes off, she then makes her way to my left side (never the right) to knead my side and to be cuddled for a few minutes until mommy is fully awake.

4 of my cats and my foster cat as well. My min pin and yes, my foster puppy as well. Though I know it is not good to have fosters sleep in beds, I will make the exception depending on the circumstance.

No human other than myself.........so no complaints or biaching about who I love more! Anyways the answer would be the same: "I love my animals more" and I offer no apologies for that!:D

Both dogs are welcome to sleep in the bed, and when I have my son's dogs - then all four are welcome. Most of them don't though. Hazel sleeps outside on the cool sidewalk til the wee hours and then she comes in and lays on one of the dog beds that surround our bed. Malone is too worried that Hazel will steal the ortho bed he sleeps on (which was bought for Hazel in the first place) so he very rarely leaves that bed once it's bedtime. Parker (son's newf) will lay right next to my side of the bed and Lexi (son's SharPei) likes to curl up against DH's legs or against my stomach. If either DH or I get up - then it's a free-for-all dog pile (literally) on whoever is left in the bed. LOL Even in our fairly cramped bed in the camper, all four are welcome. DH and I both just scoot to the very edges and lay on our sides to give them enough room.

Here's a pix of Hazel and DH in the camper bed. You can see that there isn't much room left with just him and her there - let alone me and the other 3 dogs. LOL

Cooper goes into an absolute PANIC if he thinks we're going to go to bed without him. He can't jump onto the bed but if he sees one of us get in and he's still on the floor he barks, growls, cries and gets up on his hind legs as high as he can and kind of jumps to be seen agaisnt the side of the bed.

He must have his rawhide, his night time stuffie (mousey), and an empty water bottle. If any of those things are missing he walks around the perimeter of the bed looking at the floor and making a low growl until they're all up on the bed. Then my husband throws mousey around for a couple minutes, hides it under pillows etc. , then Cooper chews his rawhide while I read and Tom watches the news. At lights out he plunks in as close as he can get, curls up against my legs and goes to sleep.

Do you think he's a little spoiled?

When it's time to go to bed, we have 16 furry paws following us :laughing: Kira and Jadzia :cat: as well as Mickey and Arielle:dog: They will move around during the night but basically they are all still on the bed by morning. Jadzia will knead on my chest (or hubby's) and then lay down. The purring is really loud but it is just the most relaxing sound!:cloud9: I sometimes would like to read a bit in bed but Jadzia's face is just inches away from mine, there's no room for a book :D Kira snuggles my stomach and Mickey will sometimes snuggle to if it's not to hot. Arielle on the other hand is not the snuggling type but she still takes room on the bed; she's over 50 pounds!:)

When hubby is away on a business trip I always think I will have more room... but I end up feeling like an egyptian mommy because they are all so close to me. I can't move! And in the morning I find myself completely on the other side of the bed:shrug: I guess I don't want them to fall of the bed so I give them a lot of space  When hubby is here he's the one sleeping right on the edge of the bed because I keep giving the furkids too much space!

I used to let the critters sleep in my bed...that is until they started to outnumber us, lol! When it was Bo and Lua, they would sleep with me (Lua on the pillow touching my head, Bo next to me with her paws wrapped around my arm). Now, they argue and fuss over who can sleep with me, so now and then I take one into the room and let them stay until hubby comes to bed. I am quite allergic to cats, so I have to be very strict about sleeping on my face (which for whatever reason they all try to do!). If I end up napping on the couch, I have all 5 on me ;) Of course when Sadie is here, she sleeps on my clothes on the floor, but will jump into bed if hubby is up or after I wake at 6 to piddle, lol. She's great though, she just joins us and sleeps between us (doesn't try to take the whole bed, lol).

Normally Keesha is the only one who is consistent with sharing the bed. For a five pounder she tends to take up a lot of room. When Tasha :rip: was alive she slept at my feet. At any given time I can have any one or more of the five house kitties sleeping on, around, on top of me. Dayle loves to wait till I am almost asleep before she comes strolling to the side of the bed mewling to be picked up. Funny, any other time she can jump on the bed very easily.
I wouldn't have it any other way. Hubby never had a pet share his bed before I came along. I told him if he wanted me he took the sleeping arrangments too. Thank Dawg he chose right!! :D

(sigh)...Yes, my furry babies are allowed on the bed. When we purchased our new matress set last year, I was adament that there would be no dogs or cats allowed...that lasted about 3 days:rolleyes:

Every night, Kato, Jersey and Abby join hubby and I on the bed, even tho they have their own plush and comfy ones at the foot of our bed.
Jersey squishes in between hubby and I , Abby lays between our feet and Kato lays behind me with his back pressed up against mine.

Once in a blue moon, Thedee and Wendell will climb up there and lay above our heads between our pillows and the wall, they won't lay near the dogs in fear of being squished in a rollover or something.

Thankfully tho, one by one they eventually retire to their own beds, because they get too hot or they realize that they can't stretch out and get comfy in the crowded human bed.

As soon as the alarm goes off and hubby gets up for work, they all stockpile back on the bed around me and go back to sleep:cloud9:

Can't sleep without mine on the bed. Not used to having more than 2 square inches of a pillow, lol.

I LOVE Jasper cuddling my head, it is very relaxing and I find I fall asleep instantly when he does it.

Snowball slept beside me at my neck every night from the time he was a kitten until the day he passed. I could not sleep if he was not in bed with me. I would put the blankets over him when it was cold and he loved it. Man, I miss my boy.

LOL, it's nice to see how many of us really just don't have any issues sharing our beds with our babies.

It's funny about the size of the bed though. When I had a full size bed, I wanted a bigger bed, because I felt that there wasn't enough room for the gang to spread out, since they would sleep so close to me. So I got a queen size bed, and they still sleep right up against me. :D That's totally fine with me. I love that they want to be that close to me while they are sleeping.

LOL Jim. I should have explained the water bottle. The water bottle is because, with a toy box full of stuffies, and blankies and rawhides and anything a doggie could want his favorite toy in the whole world is an empty bottle. He loves the crunchy sound they make and the way they bounce unpredictably.

What I should have said is that we don't actually HAVE a bed but Cooper has a nice King sized bed and allows us to have a little corner of it.

:D They don't all sleep there all night but they do like to cuddle in the morning. They're all large dogs so with dh and me both in bed there's just not room for this many all night but there's always at least one on the bed, often two. And once dh gets up early for work the bed is fair game for as many as can fit to come and snuggle with me.

My cat sleeps with me at night as well. She hogs my bed and the picture on the 1st page is totally my bed at night. My cat is a pretty big cat, for her breed. When she streches out, she takes up half of my bed.

She has this routine though. The first half hour I am in bed, she'll come in and lay right down in front of me. purring away, while giving nose kisses and headbutts. She stays for about 10 mins, then leaves (i think to go eat..she would be happest if she were a 1000 pounds. She would eat all day if she could)

Then I usually fall asleep and when I wake up during the night, she is always snuggled beside.

And I agree. I have always said that one of the best/most soothing sounds on earth is a cats purr.

I think the right question is? How many of your pets allow you on the bed???

Bearsmom
June 18th, 2009, 05:32 PM
Bear doesn't come upstairs anymore (hip issues and aging and I miss him coming upstairs ), and he was never allowed on the bed from puppyhood because we knew he was going to be so big.

Then when Molly (or Mollicent as she's affectionately nicknamed) was rescued from such a bad situation that we found she sought comfort from sleeping in a bed, so we tried and tried to break her of it, but to no avail. We too have the extra sheet over the duvet (for droolies), but I mind when she pushes me out of the king size bed with her feet so that she can snuggle up to daddy.
Other issue is the two of them snore like chainsaws....methinks I need good earplugs or something.

I woke up the other day to find the two of them spooning. Damn, I wish I had the camera handy!

O'Shawnnessey and Mirabelle I don't worry about bitting my feet so I sleep very well with them on the bed. Until they start wrestling of course.
