Summer at last

After last weekends hike through deep snow and a blizzard . . . . . summer was a welcome sight this week for Abby and Keeper . . . . I think.

No, maybe they like winter better.

Below, Abby enjoys the shade on an enchanted evening as summer finally arrives . . . . . the trails they've cut into the grass this past decade or so will be around long after Abby and Keeper leave this existence, a long-lasting reminder of who was once here.

How far do they drive the cattle?

Cool shots, as always, Rick. :D Looks like you have the bestest mud in the world, too! The Pack is envious.... :dog:

Abby and Keeper and I were in our vehicle on the way to a park in the mountains when our way was blocked. Theoretically, they're not supposed to be all over the highway like that but we didn't bother trying to bull our way through . . . . we turned around and went to a different park nearby where Abby then found her treasure and the mudhole.

Funny thing though . . . . . today I met a lady and we were talking about where she lives - and it's just up the road in this picture and her horse is the second one from the left in the shot. She knows most of the people in the picture and the person riding it is a relative who had borrowed it.

This wouldn't be too far . . . . . probably 10 miles or less. My Associate Jennifer was on an all-weekend, 35 mile drive in Saskatchewan a few weeks ago. Very parched conditions. She's still picking the dust out of her ears.

Basically, this is the time of year cattle are driven into crown land on the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies, free-ranging in the Foothills and then rounded up again in the Fall. This picture is looking west and is about five miles from the Kananaskis Country boundary.

A very good decision that Abby & Keeper are most grateful for :D now they know where the best mudhole in the county is :dog:

How cool that you met the lady too, small world under those big skies :D

Wonderful pics as the norm Rick. :thumbs up Not so sure the mud bath is a great idea. Does your mud have healing qualities? Maybe that's what keeps the pups looking so good huh? Love the stretchy kitty. :cloud9:
