Secondary Glaucoma due to pigmentary uveitis

June 10th, 2009, 01:56 PM
Poppy - my 11 1/12 year old Cairn Terrier has glaucoma caused by pigmentary uveitis. When diagnosed during yearly checkup she had already lost sight in left eye and right eye has advanced uveitis and glaucoma. We've been treating with all drugs available and have had to do taps on her seeing eye to keep pressure down. Now I'm to make decisions as to whether to choose to have laser surgery, shunt surgery, no surgery but continuous treatment with drops. I'd like her to keep her sight as long as possible. Looking for some guidance from the community. No guarantees at all with any of the treatments since its the untreatable uveitis that is the culprit. Thanks.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I've got no experience with either the glaucoma or the uveitis, but I did want to send some :goodvibes: for you and Poppy. She's obviously a very well-loved girl! :grouphug:

:fingerscr that someone with experience chimes in soon!
