So excited.....found a kitty to join my furcrew

Hi all, first of all sorry for not being around a lot lately, been working my behind off to get caught up on all the household bills. But enought of that I am sooooooo very excited............

I went to my pet store to get food for the cats and there is this little pumpkin kitty sitting in a crate just looking for love. This is an independant store that was fostering cats for a local rescue that got into some trouble with the city....don't know the whole ins and outs .....but I do know the organization and they have been around for a long time. They helped me when I was a teen and paid for my spay of my first kitty and let me pay it back in installments I could afford. I have always sent donations to this rescue, I do know that awhile back one of the last senior members passed away and they were looking for new for what happened, I do not know. All I do know is that this poor kitty was dropped off because the woman who adopted him as a kitten was told by her man "It's me or the cat". Apparently she made the wrong decision...

So I just fell in love with those gorgeous eyes.....I am such sucker for pumpkin kitties.........and me picking cat food off the shelves and him sticking his paw out from the crate and poking my leg.......:lovestruck:

So I have been thinking about it, first off he has got to be neutered. I don't want to bring him in and have a fight over male cat scent with my two already. Plus of course he needs to see a vet anyways. They say he is 6-7 months old. He is good with dogs, cats, people.....big love bug.

I am a little scared, been almost 14 years since I brought a youngin' home. Plus after being attacked by my old cat many many years ago, cat fights scare the hell outta me. I am bringing Zoe to meet him tomorrow at 9 in the morning. I will bring my camera and take a few brain says yeah he will be on your couch by 9:20.........

I asked the lady at the store what his name is, and she said the woman never even mentioned a name when she dropped him off. All I said was, he should be called Chester........:cat: I already have a nickname for him "Chedda'"...........can you tell I am smitten????

the woman who adopted him as a kitten was told by her man "It's me or the cat". Apparently she made the wrong decision...

 it's her loss !!!

I hope things work out :goodvibes: with time and patience , it usually does :)

See I got lucky when I adopted Phoebe. I didn't even think of the "what-ifs"
I opened the box the Humane Society sent her home in, she popped out met Amos face to face and took off and hid for a day. Amos was no problem, he didn't care that another cat was in his space. And 13 years later it is clear that Miss Phoebe runs the show. She is 8 pounds of trouble when she can get into it. She puts Amos in line and he is huge. She has that 'calico" tude.

Zoe I am not even worried about, she loves all kitties. And I think it would be nice to have a "downstairs" kitty. My two right now own the upstairs, they believe that life is eat, poop and sleep. Maybe a little energy would get them going again.

I am so nervous and so excited all at the same time, don't know if I will sleep tonnight!!

Congrats on your new family member! How lucky for the little guy to find his way into your loving home.

You might want to take it slow with the introductions to make sure they all get off on the right foot. There's a brief article here on one way to do it in a way that minimizes tensions with the other felines:

Wahoo on another cat :thumbs up. Ummmm why didn't you have a camera phone with you so you could post pics :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:, you know us when it comes to pics  :D

Thankyou Sugarcatmom for the article. The lady said I could borrow the crate the little fella is housed in right now. I can crate him and let the dog roam, and then use my one room that has a door for the rest. It is a big dog crate, enough for ample room plus food water and a big litter box.

Ummmm and as for pics.....well I dont own a cellphone......little behind in technology over here......LOL

Welcome back DCH! Nice to "see" you again! I have wondered where you have disappeared to.
And giant congrats on the new addition!! How excited are you!!!! I hoped you would eventually find a kitten after hazel's kitty got adopted. It's like it's meant to be.
Hopefully Chedda will take to Zoe. The dog crate will do the trick with the other intros. But with Amos being so laid back and both he and Phoebe living mainly upstairs you may not have too many issues. :fingerscr
And I agree with the others....... pics please. :D:highfive:

Yay, how exciting! I like the name you have chosen, and the nickname! I can't wait to see him. I'm sure he'll fit in very well, just make sure the intros are slow.
