Looking for boarding facilities for a CRF cat

I'm currently on the hunt for a boarding facility in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for my 15 year old cat, who has CRF. Before she was sick, I used a pet sitter, but they don't administer sub-Q fluids and it was very stressful on my cat to go to the vet every 2 days. I'm thinking I may need to find a vet clinic that boards (my doesn't for extended periods), as most of the other boarding facilities I've found won't administer the fluids. I'm hoping someone in the same situation has some recommendations for me!

Have you asked your vet if they have a recommendation for you? They may know of a clinic in your area that does long term boarding.

Yes, I did ask my vet - unfortunately, the two boarding facilities they recommended don't do subQ fluids and they didn't have any vet clinics on their recommendation list. I've started looking for vet clinics in my area that board, but it doesn't seem to be that common around here. :frustrated:

Maybe you can find a pet sitter that does do fluids? They typically charge extra for the service, but it might still be cheaper than boarding, and less stressful for your kitty. Here are a couple links:

Another option is to ask around at local vet clinics if there is a vet tech that would be able to come to your house for a few bucks. And lastly, if you go onto one of the Yahoo groups for feline CRF, you might find someone in your area that you could exchange subQ services with:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've gotten a couple of recommendations for some pet sitters through another vet clinic here in town. One of them is a vet tech, so keep your fingers crossed! :cat:
