Even if there were no signs in a soccer field, or any park where children play, prohibiting dogs, I would never allow my dogs to run off leash where children are running around/playing . That's just an accident waiting to happen as did with this fella's daughter. What are these dog owners thinking .
The city's expenditure of 80 000$ to put up signs is well worth the safety of children imo.

A father, whose young girl was attacked twice by dogs, is on the point d' to obtain win with Gatineau. Denis Bertrand claims l' installation of panels in the municipal parks where the dogs are prohibited. Such panels already existed, but they disappeared in 2005. Mr. Bertrand has l' practice d' to go to play soccer with his/her daughter on the ground located behind l' school of the Plate, with l' angle of the streets of l' Atmosphere and of Gravity. The local by-law prohibited the presence of dogs on the grounds of soccer, but any panel n' in fact mention. According to Mr. Bertrand, dogs and owners attend this ground without being assiduously worried by the municipal inspectors. L' last year and once again this year, of the dogs without leaves have escaped with l' attention of their Master to jump on his daughter. After the first attack, Mr. Bertrand took l' practice d' to inform the owners of l' prohibition, before asking them to leave the places with their animal. In the majority of the cases, one l' sent to feed. “People call upon the fact qu' it n' there no panel prohibiting has the dogs in the park of soccer and qu' they have the right d' there to be”, told Mr. Bertrand at the time d' a maintenance earlier this week. The municipality has l' now; intention to react. “We are to examine the d' possibility; to install l' posting in our parks, said the managing director Robert Weemaes yesterday. The problem, c' is that if l' is installed; posting in a park, it will be necessary to install some in l' together parks of the city. Our legal departments and our service d' town planning lean on top. S' is needed; to ensure that, juridically, c' is solid. ” The adviser of the district, Alain Pilon, estimates that l' installation of panels d' prohibition in all the parks concerned would result in an invoice d' approximately 80.000 $. Approximately 150 parks would be touched. In 2005, the municipal regulation was harmonized. L' posting was reconsidered on the principle which the presence of dogs is prohibited in all the municipal parks, except adverse opinion
