I need advice my dog was diagnose with very low protein level in blood she's on medicine but some days she is fine and other days not so fine. She's building up fluids and is on Puresis (waterpil). She was already drained but after a week or two it all starts over again she is on a high protein dieet.
The vet did test her liver and there is nothing wrong. She is only loosing protein. And she started with this Des 2008.

She is also loosing weight and muscle

Please anyone with advice

There is another thread about low protein levels:

Did your vet also test to see how much protein was in the urine?

Heart problems can cause fluid buildup, as can liver problems and cancer. Were any tests done on the fluid that was drained?

Did your vet consider the possibility of amyloidosis? It's a condition where the dog does not process amyloidal proteins, and those proteins actually create deposits in the dogs body. Most times the deposits are in the organs but it can also show up as a swelling on the body, most commonly on the back legs (the hocks). It can't be truly diagnosed except during a post-mortem exam but if the symptoms are consistent, there is a drug that is supposed to shorten the duration and frequency of the episodes. The episodes also include a high fever.

Hi there!I would have your vet check your dog for lympangectasia. It's a rare condition but my dog had all the same symptoms and is doing great on a special diet.
