help for sloppy drinker

we have a 8 month old lab cross who creates a river across the floor everytime he drinks, any suggestions?? :eek:

We put down an indoor/outdoor welcome-type mat under her water dish. This sops up most of the mess. By the time she's left the carpet area, the slobber has dwindled to a trickle. :p

We also put a towel under the dogs dishes. We have a raised food bowl which also helps with the mess. We have moved it away from a place where we step all the time. Its common around our house to hear "Yuck, I just stepped in some water"

Ya I have cats that do the same, and since they drink up on the table, I had to get a mat to save the wood! Depending on just how far he can splash, sometimes a plastic placemat does the trick! Or better yet a boot mat with the lip- keeps the spills contained and no material to wring out! :)
