I'm looking to adopt a pug or boston terrier or french bulldog or any combo thereof in the Greater Vancouver, BC area. Am willing to drive the States (washington) as well. Would be best if there were no known problems co-existing with a cat.
Would prefer a heathy, male or female under 5 years old. It's getting harder and harder to find these guys for a reasonabale price, and I'd rather give a home to someone who needs it. I would consider a pair, if anyone knew of siblings who didn't want to break them up.
I'll be moving Oct 1st to pet-friendly accomodation and am a volunteer with the Vancouver SPCA, so I'll be a good parent.
If anyone has any info or links - that would be great!

Petfinder has hundreds of pugs and Bostons, but none near you!!:(
You might want to try the BC Rescue Board (http://www.brindleweb.com/bbs/index.cgi?#22840) - I'm sure they know of dogs needing homes that may not be listed on Petfinder.

Thanks for the link - I contacted the Pug & Boston rescues.
I watch petfinder weekly, and never see any in my area. Every once in awhile one will come up in WA or OR, but usually they won't adopt out-of-state :/ Maybe I should start including Alberta in my searches.
We rarely get any small breed dogs at the Vancouver location...
The cost of these breeds in BC is getting out of hand. They're popular in pet stores again, which is disturbing and I've seen them for as much as $1650 with no papers :(

Those dogs come from puppy mills, and no one should be buying them at any price.
You could get a wonderful pet-quality puppy from a reputable breeder for much less.
If you cannot find a BT in rescue, here is a list of breeders in BC and AB who are sanctioned by the BT Club of Canada.

Oh I would never buy from a pet store...
Unfortunatley some friends of mine didn't talk to me before they did. They bought a pug from a local place, and the poor little guy was so interbred... so many problems, it was so sad :/
There's an increasing amount of backyard breeders in the area who are charging about 900-1100$.
I was hoping to give someone needy a home, but if no one comes up (which is good too...) then I'll go to a proper breeder.
I've already got that page bookmarked ~ but thanks for the link...

What do you think of ads in places like the buy & sell that are selling dogs "due to allergies, etc" There are 2 ads in my local paper this week for single female pugs over a year old. The prices are about 500-600$.

I thought I found a perfect match in washington.
3 year old Boston named Bonsai, but I just looked the page up again and he's gone. :(
So, the hunt continues. Any suggestions welcomed.
