Arghh- Rant alert

So mom has been sick and Ive been tending to her, bedside.

Lil bro woke me up a few nights ago at 3am complaining of stomache pain so I made some herbal tea for him and stayed awake with him till 8am. Didnt wake my mom up cuz she had an appt with diabetes specialist at 9am that day.

Now my stomache hurts :frustrated: and I have the sniffles (thanks mom ).

My dad arrived in TO today but because my moms sick and she's afraid of my driving he has to take the shuttle home. He was supposed to arrive at 2 but as usual alitalia flights are late...arrived at 4:30. We got it somehow mixed up and thought he was arriving on friday, cooked up a storm on wed/thurs only to have him call us on friday afternoon (an hour b4 we were leaving for the airport) from egypt . We got the dates wrong. Lucky friends :rolleyes:got plates of stuffed cabage leaves from us cuz my mom wanted to make fresh batch for dad.

I spent the day disinfecting the house praying he wont get sick (with his CLL we have to worry about him getting infections/fevers). His appointment for the blood test is on the 29th :fingerscr:fingerscr:fingerscr

On top of this I think Bunduk has some sort of bug again  I was scooping the litter box yesterday (shame on me i hadnt done it for 2 days but i was super busy being nurse/chef). What did I find? soup poop. Someone had major loose stool.

I was woken up by mom rather early today to deal with the poop on the floor. I concluded that in fact it was just tootsie roll puke :yuck: With a plastic red ribbon ( i think from the cat feather duster toy thing) in the middle. Which makes me think Bunduk  I hope thats why we had soupy poop.

Oh andddd theres a baby/hurt pigeon in the basement window sill area. I saw it this morning on our lawn as I was going to get some stuff for my dad and when i came back 2 hours later it was still there. Almost ran over it  I followed it around a bit where it became very clear it couldnt fly. It flew a few feet then fell into the basement window sill ( i really dont know what to call it..on the side of the house theres this metal enclosing the window). I figured that may serve as a make-shift enclosure as it gets better so I gave it some bread and seeds in there. Last time I checked it was still there...it's stressing me out :yell::yell:

So yeah that's my rant.

Hopefully things will start looking up..or at least ill get some tootsie poop and soupy puke cuz the role reversal is really grossing me out.

Onster, it sounds like you are wearing yourself too thin and if you don't slow down you are going to get really sick. <insert scolding finger here>.

Is lil bro still really sick or does he just like the attention? I think he should be able to look after himself a little bit. :o

Poor Bunduk but it's probably due to the toy he ingested some of and as long as he's not throwing up too I sure his poop will be okay in a day or two. :goodvibes:

As far as your dad getting sick since you have disinfected well and he washes his hands frequently hopefully he won't catch the virus. :fingerscr You can always get him one of those surgical masks as an extra precaution.

And, about the baby pigeon  .....I don't know anything about caring for it ....I hope he/she will be okay. :fingerscr

I just googled and found this info from http://www.wildbirdcarecentre.org/english/rescuer.html

Pigeons and Doves: Adults - any type of wild bird seed, corn. Babies - bring them to the Centre as soon as possible as they need special feeding via tubation which you can not do yourself at home.

They are located in Ottawa but maybe you could give them a call and they can advise you on what to do ....

http://www.wildbirdcarecentre.org/english/contact.htm

Good luck. :fingerscr :goodvibes:

Onster, Melinda knows so much about sick birds. If she doesn't log on today you can try to PM her. I think you're doing too much also, you must remember to take care of yourself as well or you will end up sick too.

Onster...you have made me tired and in need of a bed just reading your post! Lil bro needs to do more...train him well now and he will find himself a good woman when he grows up! :D

The mask thing is a good idea. :thumbs up

Ummm...afraid of your driving??? Does onster like to take corners on two wheels a lot?

I guess..but sometimes u gotta do what u gotta do. I think I'll be fine now that dad is home :goodvibes:
Is lil bro still really sick or does he just like the attention? I think he should be able to look after himself a little bit. :o
Right now he's better. Sorry I didnt mean that he's still sick ...it was just part of the chain of events I was ranting about. He's still coughing and also sniffles but the most I do for him now is tell him to drink OJ & have some cough medicin!
Poor Bunduk but it's probably due to the toy he ingested some of and as long
I hope so! Honestly it was just 3 big puddles of poop in all 3 litterboxes. The reason I think it was Bunduk is because he had an unclean bum later and also he doesnt cover his business unlike Onnie who is very meticulous. Im worried it might be food change too because theyre on Fromms now (from wellness)

I really hope he doesnt catch anything :fingerscr My mom is sleeping in a seperate for a few days cuz she really has been quite sick tho better now. Was running a fever for 3 days. I got masks for my mom to wear actually but I guess it would make more sense for my dad to eh? hmmm My dad's friend (a doc) said we were being overly cautious but Id rather be overly cautious than end up in the hospital
And, about the baby pigeon  .....I don't know anything about caring for it ....I hope he/she will be okay. :fingerscr
I am happy to report it disappeared sometime between 7 & 8pm. I thought it might be a baby because it was quite small and the feathers on its chest were ruffledand sticking out like down feathers. Maybe it just had an unpleasant encounter with a predator? Not sure. I hope it made its way safely tho :fingerscr
I just googled and found this info from http://www.wildbirdcarecentre.org/english/rescuer.html

thank you, I'll keep that bookmarked because I have found birds in the past.

Thank you. lol I am sick unfortunately. My stomache really hurts on and off  No vomitting tho...basically what my bro had. But Im drinking some warm tea..it really helps. Well its not tea...its like a miracle plant that i dont know the name of in english. In arabic its "miramiya" and if you have cramps/ indigestion it works sooo fast.it does make me feel better so im just drinking loads of it till whatever this bug is passes. My lil bro had on and off again pain for a few days then the one night he woke me up he was keeled over in pain. At one point after refusing me me to take him to the ER he yelled from the bathroom that "we better go to the doc and get some freakin pain meds". Then he said he just wanted to rest a bit first and I made him some miramiya....half an hour later he fell asleep. Disclaimer: I knew it wasnt his appendix because he had that removed when he was 7.
Onster...you have made me tired and in need of a bed just reading your post! Lil bro needs to do more...train him well now and he will find himself a good woman when he grows up! :D
lil bro makes mean scrambled eggs :D hahaha ok so he's not totally useless. Wait no. He actually is. hahaha. I think cuz he's the baby? I miss having big bro B here....he actually did stuff. He was even in charge of kitty litter!!! Then he got married :frustrated: dangit lol
The mask thing is a good idea. :thumbs up
lol in the time it took me get this far in this reply, my dad woke up went to the spare room mom was in and dragged her back to their bedroom to sleep. He fell asleep when she was next to him (cuz he refused she sleep in another room) ...he says he can't sleep without her there  So now theyre both wearing masks  My dad is already snoring lol. My mom is better tho thank God. Ive been giving her vitamin C, cold fx, tylenol cold n flu & echinacea (for her throat) for several days now so I guess they eventually kicked in.
Ummm...afraid of your driving??? Does onster like to take corners on two wheels a lot?

 noooo of coourse not  hahaha. No my mom is afraid of any of her children's driving. Except big bro B. She used to sit in the car when he drove. My mom has only been in the car with me driving once before....in an empty parking lot when I was still learning. She asked me if could please drive on neutral while she cluthced the side of the car  Needless to say I scrapped the idea of my mom teaching me how to drive.

Onster,it is very stressful to be a caretaker be it to family or pets, hope your mom and bro get better, since it seems like you are getting sick too:sad:
Hubby and I were both very sick with the flu about 1 month ago,he took care of me,then I took care of him,but I swear,it was like his flu was a thousand times worse than mine...but that's just how men are:sick:

Too bad about the little Pigeon, next time you find a wounded bird,or one too young to fly, maybe you can give him to HS,if they take birds like our HS does.
He more than like became some kitties dinner:sad:

I hope everyone is feeling better over there soon! There are a lot of nasty bugs going around this year already. :goodvibes:

And as for the bird I had the same thing last year with a baby blue jay, the parents were right nearby though.... it kept hopping into my window wells (thats what they're called btw). Was just heart wrenching to know it was most likely going to end up some kitty's snack... but it's wing was badly broken and our HS does not bother with small birds, I asked. And with 6 cats, bringing him in here wasn't really an option either. Last I saw the parents were escorting him across my yard toward the neighbours fence...if yours disappeared though it may have just been stunned from flying into a window or something.

And your parents are too cute! Not wanting to sleep alone...:cloud9:

Thanks everyone! It's just so good to have my dad home :cloud9::cloud9:

Im happy to report that save for a cough on my bro's end everyone is alright now, thank you :grouphug: Bunduk is still having diarrhea issues though  Maybe fromms isnt agreeing with him.....yet he can eat everything else :frustrated: On the plus side Onnie's fur is sooo much shinier now, on the last bag of wellness his fur was just so full of dander.

Chico I didnt know you guys had the flu! sorry about that. Im glad your better now though. And yeah males tend to act like theyre dying when theyre sick

Kr A window well! thank u!!! lol I really had no idea what it was called. We dont have them in the middle east and its not really on the list of vocab u learn when u immigrate  I worry this guy may have become lunch too...but i really just could not take him in with all what I was dealing with and 2 cats. Last time I called the HS about a sparrow they asked if I could 'deal' with it myself (ie snap its neck) but i couldnt ...i brought it in and htey did :rip:

Thanks again everyone...Im a bit on edge now over dad's tests tomorrow. Please pray his levels will be good and he wont need treatment :pray: I think the nodes in his neck are swollen and that scares me

ancientgirl
April 28th, 2009, 07:30 PM
Bunduk I'm glad you're feeling better.

I hope your dads tests come back okay. Maybe you think his nodes look bigger because you haven't seen him for a bit, also, I imagine his flight must have been tiring so that could be part of it.

I hope Budunks tummy issues get better too. Doesn't he like yogurt? Were you giving him probiotics? That might help. My gang have been doing well on them.

onster
April 28th, 2009, 07:37 PM
thanks AG.

I guess there is no use speculating about the nodes but basically it looks like two little lumps on both sides of his neck. I mean if I wasnt looking for it I wouldnt have noticed but yeah to me its all i see now. I guess we will know tomorrow, his appointment is at 8am for lab tests and 10am with the oncologist.

Bunduk does take probiotics and yoghurt (he really loves it) but still poops are off. I tried to do a slow intro with the food too. Hopefully it'll just take time though because i really dont want to do wellness anymore. I cant do grain free because then Onnie has anal gland issues. Maybe when I move it out Ill try raw but for now I just gotta find another kibble (after wellness) that works for us. :goodvibes: I was hoping fromms would be it...so fingers crossed.

Havent tried Innova AG, is it grain free? I thought you fed your crew all canned?

Anyhooooooooo

I have very very very very good news :D:D My dad's oncologist said he was extremely happy with the results, my dad's levels are the same (actually a little bit lower)

* happy dance*

I'm just gonna have me a glorious day now. Thanks everyone for your thoughts/prayers.

Oh and the nodes...they are a bit swollen but not as much as I thought..it's mainly old man neck :o lol sorry dad.

Okie im off to feed Diezel now :D

That's excellent news about your dad! :thumbs up

I do feed mine canned. Innova comes in canned as well. The regular Innova does have brown rice, which is why I'm thinking of switching them back to the EVO. They have a few different flavors.

I deleted what I posted because I realized how long it was. Yikes! So here's the link instead.

http://www.evopet.com/products/default.asp?panel=in&id=1501

But I will post this. This is what they have next to the ingredients:

The Ancestral Diet Meets Modern Nutrition

EVO Cat and Kitten Canned Food contains all of the natural nutrition and benefits of EVO Cat and Kitten Dry Food in the convenience of a can.

To bridge the gap between what was once the ideal diet in the wild, and what science defines as an optimal nutritional profile, Natura Pet Products has developed the ideal ancestral diet: EVO.

EVO Cat and Kitten Canned Food is based on ground chicken and turkey meat, bones, fat, cartilage and connective tissue. It includes whole, raw fruits and vegetables which contain health promoting phytochemicals and micronutrients.

Hi-Protein, Low Carbs and Grain Free.

If you like the idea of feeding raw, but prefer a gently cooked food that provides benefits that match raw, frozen or home prepared high-meat pet diets, EVO is the answer. EVO is the first grain-free ancestral diet that provides the benefits of modern nutrition in a safe, convenient and cost-effective natural food. Use EVO alone, or as a supplement to your raw or home cooked pet food for a completed and balanced natural feeding.

EVO is an alternative for raw feeders and home-cookers.

EVO Cat and Kitten Canned Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages.

EVO Cat and Kitten Canned Food is available in 5.5 ounce and 13.2 ounce cans.

Thanks rainbow. Sorry I didnt bring the cam ..next time tho!

AG Thanks & thanks so much for the food info. Ill have to see by the end of this bag of food what Im gonna do (for wet food i usually stick with merick) but its nice to have the option of the EVO :thumbs up

April 30th, 2009, 09:05 AM
My gang didn't do great on Merrick. The last time they got sick was after I'd given them Merrick, so I decided to just stop giving it to them.

The EVO is a good option if you are looking for grain free, but can't feed Wellness.
