Found in West Palm Beach, Florida

August 7th, 2004, 12:05 PM
Found a beautiful mixed tan and white female about 40 lbs, 5 or 6 years old. Look well cared for. Wearing two red collars, one with blue tag as follows:

18712 Glenmore

Unable to reach by the phone, says not in service. Cannot locate address anywhere. Please help. I think she got loose from someone up in Michigan or elsewhere while visiting West Palm Beach, Florida. She is so sweet. Please help if you can.

This is a picture of the dog we found. We named her Rennie and I guess if no claims her or if she can't be adopted, she's ours. We already have 3 but love enough in our hearts for one more.

I called the long distance operator for a "place name" for area code 734 prefix 644. That would be Ypsilanti Michigan. You might check for that address there.

Found this tel# for the Washtenaw County Animal Control in Ypsilanti:

I would imagine they would be willing to have an officer leave a message at that address or to check if the address is valid.

We brought Rennie to the Animal Control here and they found an active microchip in her. We got the number and they are trying to contact the owners. However, the phone number on the microchip was not in service either, so we must assume that they moved here to Florida. Since she had a microchip, they wouldn't let us keep her, by law. So they are contacting the Animal Control or whoever has the microchip records in Battle Creek, Michigan (that's where the chip was given) to have them follow up. They are holding her for five days, after which time we can adopt her (before anyone else can). They are going to give her all the necessary shots and change the microchip info to our name. I already paid the $20 adoption fee, just in case. Anyway, I guess fate will have to step in here. If we're meant to have her, she's ours. Let's see if they can locate the owners. Stay tuned, guys!

Thanks for your input too, Chico. So wonderful that there are so many animal lovers in the world. If there are none in heaven, I don't want to go there. :)

Well, a guy called the Animal Control Center. Said he was from Michigan and visiting some people at the Apartment Complex where we found the dog and he was the owner. They are giving him a third degree, of course, and promised they would not release the dog to him until totally satisfied he was the owner. Hope with all my heart he is the owner and she'll continue to have a good home. Thank you all for all your input. I'm giving Baby, Missy and Marvin III an extra hug and kiss today.

Rennie is home with her owner now. They told me at Animal Control that he absolutely identified himself as her owner and that she was very excited at seeing him. I'm really happy she's back with her family. So all's well that ends well, I guess. Now, if I could only get over being a little depressed.

You'll be ok,I am sure before you know it,another lost soul will find his way to you,the Guardian angle of lost dogs :D

But what a wonderful thing you did. If she was excited to see him, it's truly great. If she had been fearful, well . . . it didn't happen. YEAHHH!! And look at the bright side, you met US! :D
