I'm interested in taking a dog training course, and eventually becoming certified. Suggestions anyone?

I don't know about schools, I've never looked into it, but what about seminars? I'm on some email lists where I'm always getting sent info about upcoming courses and seminars. (Don't know of any currently, sorry) The trainer I went to for agility lessons did a lot of her training through seminars by the sounds of what's on her website:

"My methods are based on some of the best trainers in North America. To gain experience, for many years I assisted with obedience and agility training at K-9-Klubhouse. I continue to further my knowledge of canine behaviour by attending many seminars and workshops to advance my skills with some of the best trainers: Ian Dunbar, Gary Wilkes, Carolyn Clark - Operant Conditioning, Cheryl Smith - Aggression Dog to Dog and Dog to People, Donna Duford, Jean Donaldson, Turid Ruugas, Greg Derrett, Susan Garrett and others. My favorite workshop was Bob Baileyıs Chicken Clicken, and Leslie Nelson -Positively successful. Most recent Ian Dunbar pet dog aggression and on to International Professional Pet dog trainers conference at the end of Oct. "

She's got several certificates from completed courses, posted on the wall of her training center.

A good resource is the Canadian Association of Pet Dog Trainers (http://www.cappdt.ca/public/jpage/1/p/BecomingATrainer/content.do) website, along with the APDT (http://www.apdt.com/po/career.aspx) one in the U.S. Their focus is on "dog-friendly" training techniques.
