I have a 4 year old Shizu mix. She has always used pee pads that I make sure are kept clean. The last 2-3 weeks she has decided to pee on the tile floor near her pee pad. She only does this in the middle of the night. I take her water up at 6PM but she still pees on the floor. Why would she be doing this and what can I do about it? HELP

Welcome to the board Berry40. :D
Has your dog been checked out by a vet recently? There can be lots of reasons for inappropriate peeing, many of them medical. A vet can help you figure out exactly what you're dealing with. If it's a medical problem, like a UTI, the cure might be as simple as a course of antibiotics.

Thanks for responding Hazel!
My dog actually has been to the vet recently and everything checked out fine. The only time she does it is when everyone is in bed in the middle of the night. She goes over next to the pee pad (which is clean) and pees on the tile. It's very strange, I can't figure it out. Maybe I should entirely cover the area with pee pads where she is going!

Has anything changed in your house recently?

Nothing has changed that's why this is so bizzare! She'll use the pee pad during the day and in the evening. But when everyone is sleeping, she'll go on the floor. Is it too dark, should I leave a light on? Should I cover the floor in pads? Is she lonely at night? So many questions!!!

Have you noticed her drinking more than usual when she has access to water?
