A hard day's play at Hazel Run...

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:05 AM
One thing the Hazel Run Mama loves about the Pack is their capacity for self-exercise.
They do tend to pack a lot of cardio workout into just a short amount of time. :thumbs up

Now that the meds are doing their magic, Princess Lil Belle decided that it was time for payback.
She got right in Esquire Brier's face and barked

"Hey, dweeb! You wanna play?!"
47280
Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie thought it was a fine idea.

The pairs event looks a bit like a dance.

Circling
47281

Nibbling
47282

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:17 AM
Cheek-to-cheek
47283

Ending in a quick wrassle...
47284

...and
47285
"Arrrggghhhhhh!" complains Lil Belle.

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:23 AM
This turn of events signals group play.

Sheriff Cole narrates the action:

"Well, folks, looks like Lil Belle thinks Brier is being a bit of a boob."
47286

"When she gets that look on her face you know there's gonna be some major fun!"
47287

47288
"Whoa! And while the Princess is focused on Bratty Brier, Grace comes in and for an amazingly sneaky flank attack!"

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:28 AM
Face off
47289

Suddenly, from a quarter mile to the SW, a wolf howl echoes!

"To the perimeter!" barks Sheriff Cole...
47290

47291
...and he and his posse run off to make sure there are no incursions on Pack territory.

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:35 AM
Repelling wolves is a wonderful exercise--keeps the body, mind and lungs in good shape.
And the Pack is quite good at it. No more howls...

"Now, where were we?" thinks Brier to himself after a few minutes.

"Oh, yeah..."

47292
"Wanna play, Ember?"
47293

47294
"No, I don't."

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:41 AM
"Well, alrighty then! I'll just lie down and relax for a moment..."
47295

But Lil Belle never lets an opportunity to roll Brier pass.
47296
"That's the ticket, Lil Belle!" rowfs the Sheriff.

And pretty soon there's a free-for-all in the Big Yard.
47297

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:46 AM
First the tricolors team up on the Sheriff...
47298
...then Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie and Amazing Grace chase him toward the shed
47300

"C'mon! We can trap him behind the tank!!"
47299

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:55 AM
Miraculously, Cole escapes the trap and leaps free toward the gate!
47301

By this time, though, the Pack is beginning to think it's had enough exercise and things begin to wind down a bit.
The Sheriff takes Lady (in Waiting) Ridge for a final dance...
47302
...and most of the Pack heads inside for a nap.

But not all...

The two youngest, Brier and Grace, haven't quite exhausted their supply of energy.

"If you're gonna stay out here with wolves in the area," calls Sheriff Cole from the door,
"then at least come up on the deck where it's safer!
Remember, you're gonna be without back up once we get inside!"

So up on the deck fly Brier and Grace, circling and feinting
47303

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 01:59 AM
"You wanna piece o' me?" roars the Esquire...
47304

"Nyah-nyah, Grace, your stumpy little arm isn't long enough!"
47305

47306
"No, but my teefies are sharp, sneaky, and ready for action, you big Bozo!"

Dracko
January 22nd, 2009, 02:05 AM
Oh man, your stories always bring a :D to my face. I don't have near the imagination you do. :thumbs up

hazelrunpack
January 22nd, 2009, 02:06 AM
47307
"Aha!!! Got your ear!!"

"Whoa-ho! Got your neck!"
47308

47309
"Hey!!! That's cheating!!!"

The Hazel Run Mama opened the door and stuck out her head.

"Hey, you two nudniks! No wrasslin' on the deck! Why don't you come on in for naps!"

So...are you tired yet? I'm exhausted! Too much exercise...time for bed...

Nitey-nite! :D

:sleepy:

Everytime I see Macie she always looks so happy :) 'specially when she's barking her head off :D

The videos are all on the first link, you just click on the pic of the one you want to see & it plays for you :D So much fun happening at Hazel Run :cloud9: Duffy likes watching the videos too, especially the really loud barky ones - "not allowed to play on the deck" for example :D :cloud9:

Ooo...I actually remember that one!

I don't think there are any recent ones out there. Maybe I'll try to get some clips ready to upload later today. Then it will all depend on the strength an integrity of my phone lines! I'm doomed :o

LOL.....I just played this one and Jasmine went running under the bed, Ziggy ran out of this room and Chase came running in to see what was going on. :D

Chase looked all around, behind the computer desk and under it  as I kept replaying it and then he finally looked at the screen. :D Watched it for a few seconds then ran out to the living room window and back again.

Such a bright boy I have here.

No, you haven't missed anything mf. I have just had a very sore back for the last few weeks. I am going through tests now to find out why. No biggie. I have soft tissue damage from repetitive motion before. It could well just be a reoccurance. Sorry to be :offtopic::o.

hazelrunpack

:laughing: I just watched the short video of the pups playing and barking. I am such a mean mommy!! I picked Keesha up to see her reaction. She just sat on my knee listening. Sammy came over and kept checking Keesha to see what she was barking about. Poor Dayle was on top of my monitor but took off like a shot!! Guess she's not too impressed by doggies barking.

Beautiful pack Hazel. I am very familiar with Setter antics! My father raised them in Michigan.

Our first Setter came from a kennel in MI...no longer in business... He was fast! Really knew how to turn on the afterburners on the homestretch!

Poor Dayle!  That's what impressed me so about Mr Kitty--up a tree with all 8 barking at him and he wasn't particularly upset by it. If it had been me, I would've been having kitty conniptions... :p *sigh* Still wish we could've kept him

14+kitties
January 24th, 2009, 08:56 PM
I just realized about an hour ago that the kitties have really never heard a dog bark. Sammy doesn't unless she hears coyotes or she is dreaming. Then it's just a little woof. Keesha hasn't barked for a long time. Probably six months or more. No wonder poor Dayle was freaked! She finally decided Mom's monitor was safe again though.

You know, it probably worked out for the best for Keegan. He is in a new home. Your pack is still defending their borders from all intruders. It's hard to say what they would have thought about Keegan in their house.

hazelrunpack
January 24th, 2009, 09:03 PM
No...I know exactly what they would have thought  Still...I'd love a kitty :o It'd have to be a Crookshanks, though.

How is your back?

January 24th, 2009, 09:09 PM
Aw thanks for asking hazel. Same as usual lately. I have my rice heating thingy on as much as possible and try to do the exercises from the physio I had a couple of years back. I will be going to the docs probably next week to get results of the tests and any news. Depends on how fast the xrays get to him. Meanwhile... life goes on.
Now stop threadjacking your thread young lady!!!

Oh, forgot to say...... love your voice on that other video I got to listen to with the sound up. You sound exactly like I thought you would! :thumbs up It was the one with Gracie (I think) and the Kong and frizbee.

I have to pull out my CD archive of the videos and watch them again. I can't remember what all is out there!

Well now, I know what you mean by that. I get to listen to my voice at work all the time if I have to call for a price check or something. Irritating! I don't know how I've put up with it for this long!! I didn't realize the inflections I had in my voice until I heard it back over the speakers at work.

If I play back the video camera, the dogs ignore each other's barks, but don't recognize their own. I think it sounds different to them, just like our voices sound different to us on tape. So if Cass, say, hears herself on tape, she thinks it's a strange dog and raises the alarm...and suddenly there are seven other dogs backing her up, even though they have no clue why she's barking. This is one reason I have ear plugs handy when I'm editing tapes :o
