Society does not solicit donations: spokesperson
Amanda Persico, Staff Writer

The Ontario SPCA is issuing a reminder it does not go door-to-door soliciting donations.

There have been several reports of individuals going door-to-door selling Ontario SPCA gifts and calendars, said Kirstin Williams, provincial spokesperson for the Ontario SPCA.

“We’re really grateful for people who have something to share with us, especially when the dollars are a little tight,” she said. “But we want to make sure donations get to where they are needed.”

Craig Mabee, director of development for the Ontario SPCA, warns of scam artists going door-to-door and advises residents to call police and make a police report.

“If you wish to make a donation to help the animals please ensure that your hard-earned money is delivered to those who need it most,” Mr. Mabee said.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know they didn't go door to door. Of course if they came to my door, I would have donated, no questions asked.
