After being confined for about 2.5 weeks, the sub-minus 20 Celcius weather eased up for a day, allowing Abby and Keeper to scamper outside for a brief Epik Journey . . . . .
Abby checks for rodents under the piles of snow we've seen in the southwestern Alberta region.
The lookout at Brown-Lowery park southwest of Calgary afforded a nice view of the nearby Rockies and, for a brief moment at least, a snowshoe packed trail . . . .
. . . . but that didn't last for long and we were trudging through deep snow
On Christmas morning, Abby ignores Rick's swell new business dress shoes . . . .

Does Abby have a velour Santa hat on in the pic with your swell new business shoes, Rick? :D
That third shot, the one along the fence, should be the paradigm of a wintry scene :cloud9: Man, that's gorgeous!

Abby was waiting for her own gift to show up. Did she ever get one? :D
Your pictures are as stunning as always! Love the snowy look. But ummm..... keep it please! Don't want anymore here!

Them's some serious shoes Rick !
Oh CR:wall:P ! Are you Jim Flaherty living in Alberta in disguise??? How bad is the budget really ??????
Great pix of Abby and Keeper as always. But I ixnay what 14+K says about the snow ~ BRING IT ON! Beats the heck out of Teerranna slush anyday.
Ceili & Bridie do the face-plant as well ~ Bridie likes to root around like a truffle pig, Ceili just takes the plunge and stays there

From this afternoon . . . . Abby contemplates a sunny break from snow earlier in the day . . . .
. . . . . while Keeper enjoys a walk along our country road.
Yesterday morning, two of my favourite horse subjects pasture in a hard winter. These two horses have been on the ridge for years and I occasionally capture them too and from Saturday morning runs to the municipal landfill nearby. They're lucky in that this ridge is fairly windswept, keeping the grass in view whereas Abby and Keeper's place, which has frequent nocturnal deer visitors, isn't offering any easy pickings. I found some deer eating vines off the side of the house at 3 in the morning a few days ago.
