Thanks to everyone for their support. I'm now completely convinced that I made the right decisions for my dog and he'll be back on his feet in no time.
A not so happy story - another lady visiting the same vet lost her puppy this evening, they were doing the 'post-mortem' when I got there. I use that term as loosely as I can because there was nothing professional about it, and as I arrived he was telling her the same thing - it was meat-eating that killed the dog.
ALL CHINESE PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT EATING MEAT WILL KILL YOUR DOG.
I asked when the pup died, and the vet said just now, when he was having an infusion.
I wouldn't even let the vet touch my dog, paid up in full (about $20 CAD, believe it or not!) and high-tailed it out of there. Before I left, I was asking about what the vet had been giving my puppy, and he told me but it was in Chinese so naturally I didn't understand it. He wanted to know why I wanted to know what he was giving my dog, and that just about sums up Chinese culture. Why WOULD an animal's owner want to know what a vet is giving her baby?! I maintained that I thought it was what made the dog sick, stressing that not having an infusion yesterday, the puppy had absolutely no loss of muscle control/co-ordination, which was my biggest concern.
Puppy is still doing fine! Here's hoping.
Thanks again, folks. If you want any silk, send me a private message. It's really cheap here!! :)
