*sigh* Methinks some groomers have too much free time on their hands :rolleyes:

I 'spect the dog doesn't care, though...as long as there are lots of treats and loving involved...and no one leaves any mirrors around :p

Well it's better than a poodle show cut! All the dogs at the park are going to think he's some sort of alien...

I definately would have to do a double take if I saw that dog in the park. Other things aside, the groomer did a good job making the dog look like a camel....even the ears. Useless really..but good job nonetheless.

I looked at these and thought that the pups probably don't mind their haircuts as much as the costumes or hats we sometimes make them wear to look cute in photos. lol http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii140/zomobucket/PC090233.jpg

What a waste of time, these so called groomers should be volunteering their time at a shelter although they'd probably be banned if they tried to make the shelter dogs look as ridiculous.

The camel pic is her work..

Many of the creative competitions are at shows showcasing the best of the best breed standard grooming too. People who are big into it like the lady with the camel, least she has a hobby she enjoys. She also owns her own shop and I doubt the customers all ask for creative styles. Just because she chooses to spend some time on her personal dogs to enter them in competitions isn't a reason to knock her. Just because you don't appreciate her hobby doesn't mean everyone would appreciate yours either.

These are from intergroom 2008, they hadn't held a creative class in a few years.

One summer I asked our groomer to cut our Retriever really short because the heat bothered him. I thought I was doing a good thing. He was traumatized. The next day he started crapping in the house (which he had not ever done since he was a pup) and this continued for several days. So IMO the dogs do care. I think for Zeus it must have been that when he shook himself it didn't feel right but I'm not sure. I made a big production of how handsome he was afterward but my family banned me from taking him to the groomer (which was a good thing really because he was a big dog and I used to have to help lift him into the tub - better for hubby or the boys to do that).

We should conduct a survey as to how many people would want their dogs to resemble a camel.

umm well i repeatedly requested Onster that she bring me back a camel from Egypt...and all I got was Henna :rolleyes:

and i don't recall camels being LEGAL in canada...so ummm........:o

:laughing::laughing::laughing: j/k

But i think poodles ask for it. They just don't seem to be happy with a normal haircut. They need a pom pom tail ;)

In the "real world" probably none, just as nobody would actually want to wear the fashions you see on the runways on Fashion TV. Crazy ridiculous outfits, not the least bit practical. But if groomers are having some fun showing their creative side what's the harm? Those poodles are going to be bathed, clipped, brushed and fluffed no matter whether a creative or a typical poodle cut.

Actually there are two that live less than 10 minutes away from me. The guy has the camels, llamas, sheep and horses.
