Hi all, new guy here. I've spent the last couple of days lost on this site reading and learning quite a bit. I found this site while searching the web for info on rawfeeding, very cool place. I normally hang out on boating and fishing forums (my passion) or food service forums (my profession) so finding a place to ask questions about my dogs and cats (the loves of my life after my wife) is pretty cool.
We have 10 cats. Two outside, Dixie and Sam. Dixie is 12 and became an outside cat when she started peeing on everything. She was a feral that I trapped out of the woods when she was about 4 months old, she does prefer being outside and not amongst all the other cats. Sam is 9 and became an outside cat because he pees on everything and was an unbelievably destructive clawer. I put a cat door on the garage door, food, water, litter box, cat caves, cat beds and a space heater for the winter are all in the garage.
Inside are PJ, Leroy, Dex, Angel, Babygirl, Harley, Chubby and Jasper. Leroy and Dex were born in our home to our cat named Cali who we lost about 7 yrs ago. Babygirl wandered up 8 yrs ago one night and never left, she was about 5 or 6 months old. Angel was found by my stepdaughter huddled on her front porch after a big storm, he was about 7-8 weeks old then, 8 and a half now. One day about 5 and a half years ago my wife came home with 5 kittens only a couple of weeks old, their mother had been hit by a car. We bottle fed them, weaned them and sent 3 of them to a vets office where they were adopted out. Harley and Chubby stayed. A year later we saw a little orange bullseye kitten showed up on our front porch hanging out with our outside cat Sam. We brought Jasper in and he's been here ever since.
Dogs; man, been a tough year with the dogs. When the year started we had 4. In March our 14 yr old German Shepard Hannah passed away. In May our 13 and half yr old German Shepard Breezy passed away. That left Samson our 8 yr old pit bull golden retriever mix (a rescue). And the greatest dog in the world; Boomer.
Boomer was an 11 and a half yr old Australian terrier. He was my buddy, he went everywhere with me. A couple of weeks ago he slowed on his eating, then he stopped. I got him back eating and got him in to the vet. She knew I had already lost 2 dogs this year, I can't imagine how she felt when she walked in and had to tell me that Boomer had lung cancer. She thought we might have a couple of weeks before we would get to the point where we would need to put him down. But a week later his breathing had got noticeably bad and I felt he was starting to suffer, so I had to take my best friend in and put him to sleep. My voice still cracks and my eyes still well up when I think of him, he was my little buddy. Jeesh, I'm wellin up now. My wife has seen me get emotional, my vet has seen me cry like a little girl.
OK I read somewhere you guys like pics:
