Really disturbing story in New brunswick/Nova scotia area

I thought a lot about posting this, I don't think this is slander because it's been all over the news over here. I am posting this as a warning because friends have told me that they are selling puppies again. I find this really disturbing especially when I watched the interview again . I know a lot of us are really into getting animals from shelters but please warn friends and family about getting pets from non-reputable sources. I have friends who work at shelters that are fuming mad at this couple. I have also heard a rumor that since the CTV news interview these people are using Alias'.

Before this all happened a friend and I were having an argument about getting pets from BYB instead of shelters or even reputable breeders. Her defense was "well at least your saving a puppy from a horrible situation". When I showed her this story she was mortified.

This is what happened in July

Another story of our nations sad and pathetic tolerance of puppymills. This is more proof that we have a PROBLEM with animal dealers! When is enough going to be enough proof for this government to act on a very serious issue.

I have been watching what happened with this case for a while now. There was even an interview of Gail and Dana attacking the Nova Scotia SPCA. Your right Benmax this is just more proof, it's so sad  I want this kind of stuff to stop :yell::frustrated:

The sad part is that I don't think there's anyone in Nova Scotia - at least no adult - who doesn't know about this story, but too many customers are still willing to ignore the situation and just go out and buy from these sellers anyway. It's been very widely-publicized in the media. Yet people still pay for parking-lot puppies from sellers whom they don't even know, and then get upset when the puppies turn out to be ill. Don't they listen? Watch TV? Read?

On the local Kijiji there are people posting an endless series of warnings as well. Unfortunately, some are badly-written and repetitive. I suspect that they're turning off the Kijiji users who just want to search the pet listings and are getting frustrated when they have to scroll through all these extra posts to find them. I'm not so sure that such publicity overkill has the desired effect, even when the intentions are good.

Anyhow, I consider that the buyer has some responsibility as well. There's absolutely NO reason that anybody should be dealing with these people. As long as customers are willing to take chances and support these shady operations, then the puppy-mill sellers won't stop. It can't be a matter of ignorance. As I said, the story is well-known. "Buyer beware" holds true in this situation too. "If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Once the money dries up from lack of sales to the gullible, puppy mills will vanish too. Let's hope it happens soon! These dear little animals deserve better.

:highfive:

We will have to see what happens on March 26th but this is a huge yeehaw for people who have been following this case and the have been campaigning for them to stop selling puppies. These puppies deserved some justice  .

Gail Benoit addressed Judge Batiot after he read the verdict. “This has got to stop,” she said. “My family is terrified and people have threatened to burn my house down.”

Pray her house gets hit by lightning... stupid :loser::censored::censored:

Your welcome . After my original post I followed it more closely and some of the things that came up while waiting for Jan 29th was really heartbreaking.

I think some good did come out of this mess because many of the people who got puppies from Gail Benoit and Dana Baily have really educated themselves and others about puppy mills, bybs and puppy brokers. They have also vowed to get future pets from shelters and rescues or reputable breeders. I also have major :thumbs up for the Digby SPCA .

I love how at the end of the second (original) you tube vid Steve Murphy mentions Heroine.. which is what I think this woman is on.. or crack.. probably crack I'd say. I mean.. just... wow... that's how you conduct yourself on a public forum? Usually people at least attempt to look intelligent when their being accused of something, if you can't even fake it... I mean.. I don't know. Trying to sue the SPCA? I'm sure that will work out well.

Well if I had read further down the post I would have seen that they got the verdict today, a big VICTORY for the SPCA. Their punishment will not be heavy enough.
Anyone who knows what they are doing can safeguard from parvo even in a kenneling setting, I worked at the SPCA in a summer when parvo was running through the area, and NONE of the dogs were infected after arriving in the shelter, only dogs which were still in animal control (72 hr holding) showed symptoms. Everything was bleached (diluted), I remember wearing what were essentially water slickers, bleaching ourselves down, laying bleach towels in front of doorways, bleach spraying the yard, rocks, sheds, trees, beddings, a lot of effort but worth it to keep the virus from spreading.

That's a great site CC, I have been keeping track from a facebook group. I did not know she sold her domain though that would possibly explain why Gails sympatico email is discont? I think they were selling puppies up until2-3 weeks ago because there was a fella in the news , he traded his computer for a puppy from them :yell: :frustrated:! Let me see if I can find the vid...
