Tundra_Queen October 31st, 2008, 01:03 AM Hi
I took the 2 kittens to the vets today to get fixed. O'Shawnnessy and Mirabelle. I miss them, it's soooo quiet in the house and no lovin's either or kitty kisses! *sigh*
They will be having surgery in the morning and I hope everything goes ok for my 2 babies. Mirabelle is tiny so I'm nervous about her. We will go pick them up in the afternoon and it will be so nice to have them back home again.
Debbie
hazelrunpack October 31st, 2008, 01:23 AM They'll do good :grouphug:
:goodvibes: and :fingerscr for successful surgeries and quick recoveries so mommy can get her kitty kisses back asap! :thumbs up
rainbow October 31st, 2008, 02:03 AM I'm sure everything will go well for Mirabelle & O'Shawnessy ....... sending lots of good wishes for speedy recoveries. :fingerscr :goodvibes:
Love4himies October 31st, 2008, 06:18 AM They will be just fine. Good luck today, Mirabelle and O'Shawnessy
lotus October 31st, 2008, 06:36 AM I'm sure they will be ok. I remember the wait I had for Sugar when she had to have surgery, it seemed like forever. Let us know how they are when you get them home.:pawprint: BTW some vets will call after the surgery to let you know how they are or you could call the vets to find out.
Tundra_Queen October 31st, 2008, 06:41 PM Thanks Hazel, rainbow, love4himies, lotus, for the good wishes. *S*
Lotus, the vet did call me. I guess she had a lot of surgeries this morning so she didn't call til later.
We went and picked up the kids this afternoon and O'Shawnnessy heard me talking to the receptionist and started calling to me...my sweet little guy. *S*
He seems to be doing ok, he wants out of his room. Mirabelle has to have a cone and that of course she isn't pleased with! It took me a bit to figure it out but I called and ask at the vet's office.
I make my own collars so I didn't have a flat collar to attach the cone to, so I had to put a piece of elastic waist band around her neck and that seems to have worked out fine. Mind u, she is NOT impressed. *S* Before the waistband was attached she kept getting her leg stuck in the cone too as she was trying to get it off. (I promised her I wouldn't take a pic of that to show her friends. *LOL*)
She is being very quiet and I hope she will be ok. She didn't eat much, maybe a tsp of food, but O'Shawnnessy at all of his.
Debbie
Love4himies October 31st, 2008, 06:48 PM Boys will recoup faster than the girls, don't worry, it may take a couple of days for sweet little Mirabelle to get back to her old self. :grouphug:
Love4himies October 31st, 2008, 06:50 PM She may get a little swelling, no worries for that, but if it turns red or starts to leak, then it means a trip back to the vet. I never had a cone for my females and they were all fine.
dogcatharmony October 31st, 2008, 07:21 PM oops somehow missed this thread.
Glad to hear that they are home safe and sound. I couldn't imagine a cone on a kitty, that has got to be a pain. Hope little Mirabelle recoups quick, she's had one heck of a day.
I know when I had my male done he was back to zooming around the house the next day:eek:try slowing a kitten down.
hazelrunpack October 31st, 2008, 08:29 PM Glad to hear the surgeries went well! :highfive: Mirabelle will be all right in a couple of days...and oh so grateful to get the cone off. :D
14+kitties October 31st, 2008, 09:36 PM I am trying to figure out why Mirabelle needs a cone? Glad the surgeries went well. I am sure O'Shawnessy will be back to normal by tomorrow. Can't keep those boys down. Mirabelle will be fine as well. Did the vet put the big bandage on? That has me confused too. I guess every vet is different but that seems a little excessive.
:goodvibes: for quick recovery.
Tundra_Queen October 31st, 2008, 10:20 PM Love4himies, I was suppose to put the cone on Mirabelle if she started to do a lot of licking, and she did. The vet said that stitches are absorable stitches? And that if she does a lot of licking it could make the stitches ragged? She also said I could wrap an small t shirt around Mirabelle, like a bandage. She doesn't have a bandage on. She said I can call her at home tomorrow if I have anymore questions.
dch, mirabelle does look pitiful with that cone on her. LOL It's only 10cm, so it's not that big, but still it's not very fashionable! LOL
I keep telling O'shawnnessy he is suppose to be staying quiet, but he wants out of his room. I can hear him jumping on the bed upstairs. *L*
hazel, I will be glad when she can have the cone off too, poor little girl.
14plus...no the vet didn't put a bandage on her, something about absorable stitches? She told me I could wrap a t shirt around it, if she kept going after the stitches. But the cone has stopped her.
Debbie :D
hazelrunpack October 31st, 2008, 10:57 PM Vets are using those absorbable stitches more and more. They're great for spays and neuters--no stitches to take out! :thumbs up
All of our dogs are lickers and some are stitch-rippers, so we have an assortment of cones. I'll bet Mirabelle looks really cute in hers, fashionable or not! :D
rainbow November 1st, 2008, 01:45 AM Glad to hear that your babies are doing fine. :thumbs up
Hmmmmm.....we haven't had any pics lately.
hazelrunpack November 1st, 2008, 08:44 AM How are the little munchkins doing this morning? :goodvibes:
Tundra_Queen November 1st, 2008, 11:11 PM I let Mirabelle out of the bathroom (ensuite I think it is called?)this morning and she joined me on the bed. She wouldn't let me sleep though as she was sooooo happy to be in bed with Mommy again. So I just made a fuss over her and stroked her, she likes to walk back and forth and get stroked, not restrained or petted. I talked to her for about 2 hrs, then put her back in the bathroom so I could get some more sleep. It was about 5 a.m. LOL
I kept going into to both the rooms every couple of hours to fed them a bit more and check on them and they are both eating pretty good. Maribelle not as good as O'shawnnessy.
I'm keep Willie separated from them as he was just too rough with them before surgery. I took O'Shawnnessy into our bedroom and put Willie into the "cat" room. Then I let Mirabelle out in our bedroom with me and OS. Then I let them downstairs for a couple of hours. Mirabelle got tired so I carried her upstairs and OS followed and this time I put them in the bathroom together for a rest.
I took the cone off Mirabelle last night as the silly kitten was sticking it into the litter box and scooping up the litter using the cone.....not a good thing! I guess she was having a hard time seeing with it on, so she was looking straight down at the litter like she was going to stand on her head! LOL Poor kitty!
Our son went to Timmins yesterday and he picked up the 3 cases of canned Wellness and the lady gave me a 2 lb bag of Wellness Core to try, which I thought was very very nice of her! My son is never going to let me forget how much that food cost me either...now he really thinks I'm nuts.like he had any doubt before this.:laughing:
I won't give the kittens any of the new stuff until they have recovered a bit more. I gave some to Willie though and he ate it! It was only a tsp, but at least he ate it.
So that is the update on the babies.
I just hope they won't have any bad reactions to the knock out stuff, I won't even try to spell that at this time of night. :)
I had read a thread about someone losing their pet from it, so that made me a bit worried.
Debbie
14+kitties November 2nd, 2008, 08:32 AM I apologize for my earlier misconception of Mirabelle having a bandage on. That was another kitty. :o Yours is the one with the cone.
Seriously, I think things are going very well. I would be taking the cone off her and just keeping an eye on her. With all the kitties I have had done I have never used a cone. Just kept an eye on them. If they would have been licking excessively, as in a few hours a day, then I would have considered a cone. Not the case though.
They will both be feeling good now. Especially O'Shawnessy. I wouldn't worry.
The other thread you read happens very very rarely.
Tundra_Queen November 2nd, 2008, 06:07 PM It's ok 14+, there are a lot of pets to keep track of in this board.
I took the cone off Mirabelle Friday night as the silly kitten was sticking it into the litter box and scooping up the litter using the cone.....not a good thing! I guess she was having a hard time seeing with it on, so she was looking straight down at the litter like she was going to stand on her head! LOL Poor kitty!
O"Shawnnessy is feeling much better today. Mirabelle is still sore, I can tell by the way she carries herself and moves. They still aren't eating like they did before surgery, but still eating well.
I was wondering if sharing a bedroom with OS last night was too much for Mirabelle, so right now she is taking a nap back in the bathroom.
I am a bit of a worrier when it comes to animals, I have been like that since I was very young.
Debbie
PS: Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do more than one quote at a time? I have tried to figure it out and I just don't seem to be able too. I see the multi quote icon, I clicked on that so it turns red, clicked on one post to quote, but see no where to click on the next post I want to quote? Or is there a site on he forum that tells u things like that, that someone can point me to please?
14+kitties November 2nd, 2008, 06:43 PM To multi quote you hit the multi quote symbol on the posts you want to quote. You can hit it three times per post. It is the one right beside quote.
So say I wanted to quote rainbow, L4H and lotus' posts. I would click on the " symbol in rainbows post, then go to l4h's post and click on the ", then go to lotus' post and click on " there. Then you go to reply and click on it. When it opens your posts you wanted to quote will be there.
Hope that helps.
Toonces November 2nd, 2008, 06:57 PM Hope your kids are feeling better, we had to have a cone on our Emma, she was trying to rip our her stitches:eek: she hated it but managed ok, glad your guys are home and doing well:D

Tundra_Queen November 3rd, 2008, 12:10 AM Um Pics? Hmmmm that means I need my camera right? Annndddd... Ummm that would mean i'd have to FIND my camera. Right? uh oh.
Our house is under renovations and our contractor has disappeared on us! I have stuff all over the place and things piled on top of other stuff. Haven't seen the #$@# contractor going on 3 weeks now. GGGggrrrrrr People told us he was a good contractor...not! The new windows he put in let more cold air in than the 20 year old windows he replaced them with! And there is still lots of other stuff he has left to do! :wall::wall:
I really don't like contractors! At least the crooked ones!
So when I remember where I put my camera ( I moved it so I'd know where it was...which never works for me.) I will take pics of the fur butts. :D
Debbie

Tundra_Queen November 3rd, 2008, 08:05 PM Hazel, I'm especially bad losing Christmas presents!! They show up AFTEr Christmas,,,maybe months after. I lose more things in my closet,,,people have been known to go in there and are never seen again!
I found my camera!!! Yeahhh It was buried under stuff in the dining room.
So here are some new pics of the kids.
rainbow November 3rd, 2008, 08:06 PM You forgot to post them :D

All the kittens/cats seem to love Tegan, she is such a gentle spirit.
Debbie
Frenchy November 3rd, 2008, 10:00 PM ahhh they're so sweet ! :lovestruck:
hazelrunpack November 3rd, 2008, 11:03 PM Is Mirabelle the calico and OS the black and white kitty? :o
Tegan really does look like a gentle soul! :lovestruck: The kitties are sure comfy with her! :cloud9: Such cute pics!

hazel, yes Mirabelle is the calico one. She is a little skittish at times but when Willie is being too rough with them, they go and stay around Tegan. Like Tegan would ever hurt Willie, though she does come get me when Willie is being bad to the kittens.
Debbie

Tegan is a good nanny... :lovestruck: And the kittens are so cute! :lovestruck:
How are they doing tonight? Mirabelle moving any faster? :D
rainbow November 4th, 2008, 01:45 AM Your going to be sorry u asked for more pics LOL
Debbie
NEVER !!! :D
And, where is Willie? :lovestruck:
Tundra_Queen November 4th, 2008, 06:53 PM How are they doing tonight? Mirabelle moving any faster? :D
Mirabelle is moving a bit better but she is still not too keen on jumping up and down too fast. Last night OS played with her a bit roughly and she cried, that was sad.
I have just let them downstairs for a few hours now that we are home to stay,,,busy day with shopping etc.
Last night I did let her out of the bathroom to come sleep in our bed, but she wouldn't lay still. She kept climbing all over me and I was sore from falling the over day, so I had to put her back in the bathroom after an hour. Plus she woke Gary up with her loud purring.
NEVER !!! :D
And, where is Willie? :lovestruck:
Willie is upstairs in the cat room so the kids could come play downstairs for a bit without getting squished.
Hey I'm a poet!
I haven't taken a pic of willie lately, 1) I couldn't find my camera and 2) he wasn't doing anything exciting. *G* Just sleeping.
rainbow November 4th, 2008, 07:56 PM But we love sleeping kitties too. :cloud9:
Tundra_Queen November 4th, 2008, 10:17 PM That is true, they are just like sleeping children,,,NOT GETTING INTO TROUBLE! lol
