Thought I'd start a new thread about the babies that are on their way (a thread without Bitch in the title LOL! :p)

How are you doing want4? Anything new with you and baby Alex? :goodvibes:

Im doing great, getting rounder by the day, so excited to see the baby next week. Its our 18 week exam. They can determine the sex but we wont be asking. I also booked an ultra sound here for when my mom comes in early December, my family and DH's family will be able to log on from their home pc's to watch the 4D ultra sound. Its amazing.

To those who have had kids....what kind of birth plan did you have, and what actually took place, ie....epidural, natural, etc...:goodvibes:

I can't wait to post pics of Lima. :lovestruck:

Congrats on your pregnancy!!

I did not have a birth plan but I had an amazing Dr and I only had one RULE. I did not want to have an episiotomy unless absolutely necessary. I did not plan to have the epidural but I was not against it. I just flew by the seat of my pants. LOL. I did ask for the epidural all three times (I have two kids but I am surrogate mother as well..so 3 pregnancies so far ;) ) The last time the epidural did not come on time so it really did not help.

So with my first labour - 17 hours long and 3 hours of pushing (cause I did not want the episiotomy). Thank god my Dr. was patient! Liam was 9 lbs 4 ounces. THere is no way I could have gone that long without the epidural.

For my daugter the labour was almost the same amount of time but I only had to push 3 times.

For L (surrobaby) my water broke at 36.5 weeks at 5:00 am. I only started having real contractions at midnight and she was born at 1:30 am. It was all a whirlwind!

Next time I might not go for the epi at all but hey..I ain't no hero. If I can get through it with little as pain as possible and baby is healthy..I am down with that.

:lovestruck::grouphug:awww FG I am sooo excited for you & want4 & anyone else.

With my kids .. my daughter, I was in false labour for the week (she was 3wks early). & was actually writing my english exam whilist in true labour. I ended up exempted :D. epidural for me on that one. She was 6lb & 5 oz labour/delivery was 1.5 hours

and with my son.. my water broke on my due date & i went to hospital because of it. That night they gave me sleepin pill @ 11pm as they didnt think I was going to have him that day. WELL UMMM @ 2am he had other ideas. & the epidual guy wasnt anywhere near hospital. I had my son @ 2:52am 8lba & 14oz as he was half out ""Daddy" was walking in. I was cussing at the top of my lungs & swearing men off forever. (that didnt stick) I also reconsized the Doctor but didnt know from where.. Well turns out her son was in my Daughters Daycare class. Small world. lol

congrats to you both, I'm awaiting the arrival of my first grandchild, a little boy ( we found out last week) my daughter is still living at home, for another month at least. she has hit the 5 month date and has gained 3 pounds, first time in 24 yrs we've ever seen her over 100 pounds.

:stork-baby:For my first child I was in false labour, the ward was empty so they said I might as well spend the night, they woke me up at 3 am to ask if I was in labour, my reply? "I don't know, I was asleep" they called hubby to come in and two hours later we were parents *L* no one wanted to feed me so an hour after I had my daughter when they took me to my room, I vanished, (went to the cafe for breaky) they paged me to return to my room *L*

:stork-baby:19 months later , after going past my due date by 20 days the dr induced me.........3 times before it took, that time it took 4 hours for my son to arrive, both times natural.

what a wonderful life you have to look forward to!!:cloud9:

Congrats - WOW!

My baby was born 17 years ago - though I was not sure about the whole pregnancy thing - once she arrived I finally GOT IT. Having her was the most rewarding thing I ever did - probably the only right thing I ever did in my life.

congrats

first daughter i was in labor 23 hours before a c section. when she was 2 weeks old we spent an evening with her at an art auction and at 3 weeks old we flew to toronto to visit her aunt who had a daughter 2 days after gillian was born, then to montreal to introduce her to the rest of the family. with the 2nd, 5 years later, the doc booked a c section because we were now living in ottawa and didn't want to take chances. i was glad he did. 1 week after she was born i was driving and shopping on my own.

By 8 1/2 months, Mrs. Schwinn's birth plan was, "Getitoutgetitoutgetitout..."

We talked about it, and she said she wanted to try to avoid any drugs. My reaction? "That's fine, but if you need them, take them. When the kid's 15 and stealing money from your purse, trust me, they ain't going to care that you became a martyr for your cause!"

She had severe back labour, and did wind up getting the epidural, both for Gracie and Maddy. To me, that's the way to go...start out natural, and if the pain gets too bad, don't hesitate. I don't see the point to being a "martyr for the cause". It's not going to harm the baby, and no one who matters is going to give you a gold star. I have heard if you have a tattoo back there you can't have the epidural. The nurse we had during our baby classes said that's BS, but she did say there are dr's who won't do it if you have one. My thought is that it doesn't make sense (they say that the ink can "invade" the body if a needle pierces it). If you cut yourself through a tattoo, it doesn't "run", so how does a needle effect it? Just my UEHO (UnEducated Humble Opinon)

how bad am i?? i forgot how far along i am.... im two weeks behind you FG??? something like that.

being my 3rd pregnancy, i have two lovely delivery stories to share!!

Cailyn is 9 now. my birth plan was simply no needles, no cutting, completely natural. baby comes first unless i have a better chance of surviving. the less the doctor had to do, the better. bodies had been doing this since the dawn of humanity, i was healthy, young, mine would perform just fine. and it did!!

my water broke at 7:30am July 4th. i woke up thinking i had to pee (you know, when you get that big sometimes it leaks out.... wear big pads!!) so i went to the bathroom but that familiar sensation of peeing... it wasnt there. and i was still leaking... i woke Cailyns father up, we went to the hospital for a check up. i was only having the Braxton Hicks contractions at the time so i wasnt too concerned. just wanted to check in.

we walked and walked and walked. the poor folks at the mall didnt know what to think of a woman wandering around in labor. makes people nervous i guess!

i checked in to the hospital some time after 11:10pm because it was really dragging on, i wanted to get checked on again to see how far along things had progressed (not far enough!!!). i was sooooooo tired by that point.

so much for no needles! my doc gave me 'the look' and stuck an IV into me 18 hours into it. i was running pretty low on energy. i had a shot of Demerol around 4am... gave me the chance to take cat naps between contractions but didnt do much for the pain.

i *think* i pushed for a half hour?? i waited as long as possible knowing i wasnt totally effaced.

she left my body and joined my waiting family at 8:22am July 5th 1999. her father snipped the cord, they threw her wiggling warm nasty body in my arms and i knew love. she latched on well immediately. after she figured that out (although didnt really get anything out) the doctors took her to run a few tests and clean her up. she was 7lbs, 9oz, 19 inches long. she had NO hair other than this fine fine covering of little tiny blond white hairs everywhere. even on her ears. :lovestruck: she was so beautiful and wrinkly and... so very much like a little tiny baby bird. :o

now for the NASTY part... it was time to deliver the placenta. EW! for some reason my sister thought she wanted it until she actually SAW it. it was a very.... unexpected sensation.

i engorged so i had a hard time nursing the first few weeks. she could still eat but she had to work really hard to get anything out. my glands felt like rocks in tights. my first check up was 2 weeks later. by then the engorging thing had worked itself out. i wished i had called someone about it. it was horribly painful and my own aversion to cold thing prevented me from trying cold presses which is what the situation called for.

Jeffreys delivery was in some ways more pleasant, others far less.

i had a different doctor of which i thought i had a more personal relationship with. we did not have a birth plan written down and did not discuss the obvious details such as who gets to cut the cord (stupid assumption on our part that it was just 'part' of a delivery).

i had to ask Chris....

so March 23rd, that morning for some reason i woke up knowing i was going to have that baby. my water didnt break, i wasnt having contractions but something told me 'today was the day!!'. i remember laying there for a few hours. i woke Chris about 45 minutes before his alarm went off... told him he wasnt going to work that day. :) you couldnt even imagine the look at his face. :lovestruck:

we got up, had a normal morning, showering, breakfast and hung out... my friend Seth met us at the mall at lunch time. the same mall i wandered around in while in labor with Cailyn 7 or so years earlier. stopped at the same Victorias Secret, scared a whole new group of poor folks.

we finally left the mall around 7pm. we walked and walked and walked and walked and nothing was progressing fast enough to go to the hospital. i went home hung out for a bit longer.... then went to bed. i was having hard contractions so i didnt think i would actually sleep but i did!!

note to you expecting mommies.... laying down slows down contractions.

i woke up a bit later... maybe 2 hours?? knowing NOW WAS THE TIME!!! my water still hadnt broke so Chris threw a garbage bag onto the leather seats of his Pontiac Grand Prix.

he drove like a bat out of hell to the hospital holding my hand until i yelled at him to use TWO hands on the wheel if he wanted to drive like that!!!!

we didnt preregister at the hospital (you know, fill out all necessary paper work) before hand!!! i was rushed in in a wheel chair, Chris had to stay and fill out paper work. by the time he got up stairs i was begging for drugs again. :D they wouldnt give them to me because the paper work hadnt gone through. so Chris had to go BACK down stairs and fill out MORE paper work!!! by the time he got back(after getting lost), all he could hear echoing down the hall was a crying baby. he was soooo heart broken until he got in the room and realized i was also growling horrible things into my bed.... still holding onto that little Pooper.

i think Chris went pee a hundred times over the next few hours.

Jeffrey was literally 2 pushes. i delivered him at 1:40am. he was 8lbs, 3oz. 20.5 inches long and i suppose cause it wasnt in our 'birth plan' daddy didnt get to cut the cord, they took off with him for a few HOURS.

i didnt nurse him until i had slept a bit, i wish i had that on my 'birth plan' to do immediately, along with that Chris wanted to cut the cord.... make sure any paper work is filled out before labor. and i guess have confidence in your doctor. i didnt mine really. less so after the whole thing happened. she did things that made me uncomfortable. frankly while she had been practicing for years, i dont think she was a very attentive nor GOOD doctor.

i ran into the doctor that delivered Cailyn about a year ago. aside from the fact that it was the perfect delivery, i had confidence in him. he was (handsome) on the ball and intelligent, he just had a good feeling behind his attitude.

looking another delivery in the eyes... i can tell you i wonder sometimes if i have the strength to do this again. its the hardest thing ive ever done in my life and as much as ive forgotten the actual pain, i will never forget the knowledge of how HARD it was. i have no experience with epidurals or c-sections but im rather proud i had the opportunity to go natural(ish). the thought of having a huge needle stuck in me or my body getting cut open is horrifying, more horrifying than feeling each and every contraction rip through my body i guess. :o i hear about some other labor stories and i think maybe its just more painful for some people??

nothing new with Alex and i. things are progressing nicely!! im feeling better, eating better and not sleeping better ALTHOUGH the Ambien is working better. im taking it about once a week. no groggyness. figure if i can get more than 4 hours of sleep once a week, im doing WAY better than i did with Jeffrey in this stage.

you know one great thing about NOT supplementing iron?? im eating steaks most nights for dinner. AND im working on a new cast iron frying pan. *impish* we have a local butcher who keeps his prices reasonable AND they are local.

anyway, its been a long day (hung out with my mom) and i still have a betta thread to post in!!

oh and sorry ive been so quiet lately. we are still working out the details of replacing my laptop. while money isnt as tight as it was looking for a while there, we dont have a few hundred bucks to dump on one right now so im stuck surfing the Wii. i see the posts daily, its just very hard ot post.

First baby, Tayler, was about 2 hours hard labor plus 3 hours of pushing. I did want to go without the epidural but by the time I reached the hospital, I was screaming for it. I was too dilated so didn't get it *sigh* I have to admit, it was probably one of the most traumatic experiences of my life :o (don't mean to scare you ). All worth it once I had him in my arms for his first feeding (that was after being stitched from ripping  ouch!). I couldn't sit on my butt for a month afterwords :D. He was three weeks early and weighed 8lbs, 3oz and measured 21 1/2 inches long. A huge conehead and a long skinny body :D :cloud9:. I have to mention, I put on a whopping 70 lbs during my pregnancy  :o.

Second baby, Sandman, was only an hour of hard labor and three pushes. Completely opposite experience from the first birth in regards to pain but, he was 7 weeks premature. We had a specialist come in and I was forewarned that he would only weigh a couple of pounds and that his lungs may not be fully developed. He surprised everyone weighing in at 5lbs, 14 1/2 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches long. I was told that he would have been a giant if I had carried him to term...phew! I only put on 15lbs during this pregnancy most likely due to chasing around an extremely active 6 1/2 year year old at the time.

For the Sandman, the scary experiences came after he was born. Some women experience depression...I had to deal with postpartum psychosis :o. It lasted over two years. I don't want to scare anyone but one strong word of advice for expectant mothers, even those who have had children previously, please, please tell your doctor and your partner if something is not 'right.' Don't let anyone tell you it's normal and don't be afraid to ask for help.

To those who have had kids....what kind of birth plan did you have, and what actually took place, ie....epidural, natural, etc...:goodvibes:

my "plan" was to just have a healthy baby, any way possible. my "plan" was to at least go full term, then take it one step at a time. my "plan" never went as planned.

Just before my 8mth mark, I had a routine check, which found my fluid was low. Thank goodness my doc does ROUTINE 8mth ultrasounds (alot of ob's don't). I was put on bedrest, told to start my maternity leave early. only allowed to get up to use the bathroom or get some food, and I had to drink gallons of water to try to raise my fluid level. (up until then I had a totally normal, PLEASANT, pregnancy)

by day 4 of bedrest, I had to go in for a NST (non stress test) and was moved to a delivery room. I was told I had NO fluid, and the baby was in a frank-breech position and in some distress. My finace was an hour away. and they told me I would have an emergency C-section within minutes, nearly 5 wks early.

My finance RACED to get there in time, and the docs held off the surgery as long as possible. He pulled into the parking garage at 1:17, and our son was born at 1:18. he did make it to the surgery room though - in time to see our son. I got a quick glimpse, then they took him for tests and care since his breathing was very labored.

The told me I had to WAIT to see him until my spinal wore off. The second I had any feeling in my legs, I grabbed my IV thingy, and hauled arse to the nursery ON MY OWN (not a pretty sight). nurses were trailing me.. yelling i had to wait... ummm no. it was a "catch me if you can" moment.

The next morning they said he had to go into the NICU at a hospital 30 min away. and they were going to send him WITHOUT ME. ya, over my dead body. my fiance went with our son, and I told my doc he could discharge me OR catch me, his choice. he discharged me. I spent the next week living in the NICU while my son was on a CPAP machine.

It was scary, and very surreal. But the moral of this horrendous story is it's OK if things don't go as planned. TRUST IN YOURSELF that no matter how your baby story goes, you will be a GREAT mom. 14 days later, I came home with a beautiful, pneumonia-free, baby boy.

Squirmy little thing...thats why it takes them 40 minutes to get all the measurements they need. And at the end of the 3rd clip Lima turns around (see the spine?) and thats all we could get - Lima didnt want to be seen anymore. LOL!

In the second clip you can see the cord going up along the left side of the baby...and Lima was sucking its hand and giveing some E.T. fingers..LOL! Too cute.

Hi there congrats new babies are always a joy.

I didn't have a "plan" for number one and just as well.

So it's my husbands birthday and I've got a chicken and all the trimmings on the stove, and company coming to celebrate.

When my water broke, at least I thought it had ,my underwear was wet and I hadn't peed.

So we pulled the chicken out of the oven and climed in the car (I'd jokingly told the guests to phone first just in case HA, HA, fortunatly they took me at my word and did phone first and when there was no answer didn't come)

Off to the city we went (1 1//2 hours) we get to the hospital and my husband parks a block away and we walk up a steep hill to the emergancy entrance. I told the nurse I think my water broke they wisked me away to a room and put me on bed rest(oops guess I shouldn't have walked that block to the door).

Baby didn't really want to make an apearance until next day. They put a moniter on us and left my husband noticed that the babies heart rate was not recovering fast enough from the contractions, we told the nurse and she looked and then called the doctor and away we went to have a c-section.

I was already on an epideral so they were able to do the c-section right away and didn't have to put me under. I didn't see anything or feel anything except presure and the urge to vomit.

My son number 1, was born weighing only 4.5 lbs. they took him away after a quick look and I didn't see him again until midnight when they wanted me to sign papers authorizing them to send him to another hospital where they had a neo natal intensive care ward. He looked like a baked potatoe wraped in a silver blanket in the inqubator as the took him off.

I had to wait until the next day before I could joining him at the new hospital and my brother-in-law and his wife drove me over (I thank god for them every time I think of it.)

My son now weighs 200lbs. and is very strong and healthy.

Son number two was not quite as dramatic an arrival. I just kept telling my doctor no more c-sections (I didn't want to be alone with a two year old that still wanted to be carried and an infant at harvest time because my husband would be out in the field all the hours god allowed.)

The baby wasn't moving as much as I thought he should be so they took an ultra sound decided his lungs were developed enough and said come on in and we'll induce you. So I went in and we waited all day for someone to give me a shot and nothing. about 4:30 the nurse came in and said that I should take off my jewlery. I looked at her and said am I having a c-section and she stud there stunned and didn't know what to say. Off they took me and yes it was another c-Section ( I must have signed consent forms or they couldn't have done it but what a surprise.) Baby boy 2 was a whole pound heavier than number 1 and didn't have to go anywhere other than my arms. That boy I breast fed for 8 months and loved it.

For anyone who's wondering I've done both the bottle and breast feeding and breast feeding has bottles beat hands down. It's always ready alwayd warm and no messy clean up.

Baby one was not able to breast feed for several reasons, he still did very well it's just the convenience of breast feeding I loved.

So even though I didn't want two c-sections it's not the end of the world if you do end up having to go that way.

Way too long and wordy a post but what the heck pregnant lady's need somthing to read.

When I go for the next one, at 24 weeks, with my family - they told me not to drink all the water but to eat a boat load of candy and sugar for maximum movement. LOL! No problem I said!! hahah!

FG...I had some chocolate M&Ms before my ultrasounds and it was awesome!!! The baby moved around so much that even the regular ultrasounds looked neat.

With my first child I ended up having to be induced because of high blood pressure and low amniotic fluid. I went to the hospital on Thursday morning...was put on I.V. and began my day of boredom.
At one time they had to remove my I.V. because they were so busy in the maternity ward that they couldn't keep proper track of me :frustrated: We were there all day and night and couldn't believe the number of women that were delivering. It seemed like every 10 minutes we could hear a baby crying.
I started having some heavy contractions but the baby wasn't coming down. The doctor tried to break my water...you probably heard my screams all the way in Calgary it was so painful :D I finally had an epidural and tried to get some sleep while my husband squeezed himself in a little chair.
On Friday morning the doctors decided that the baby wasn't coming naturally as he hadn't moved down so I was wheeled into the delivery room for a c-section. As long as the baby was healthy I really didn't care that I had to be cut open...I was awake and could hear everybody around me.
At 8:25 am on March 30th our little boy was born...he was 8lbs 8 oz and looked amazing, no squished head:D I was sent to the recovery room and as soon as I could feel my legs I was wheeled to my room...my husband introduced me to our son and I was in love :cloud9:

With baby #2 and #3 I chickened out and opted for a planned c-section. I got to pick the date of delivery and everything went smoothly. I also got a spinal instead of an epidural which was much faster for recovery.

im hanging in. i had horrible headaches with Jeffrey aroudn this time. i started getting them with this one. turns out its from the heater vent that dumps out under the kitchen sink. apparently its been growing mold for the summer/AC months only to die and get shot out all over the house when the heater comes on in the fall. we took the cabinet apart and got rid of the mold... no more headaches!! im so happy!! i have a docs appt in a few weeks (right after before our thanksgiving) and i will talk to him about it then.

ive been feeling pretty good. making a long trip from central NC to DC this afternoon. hopefully traffic will be good to me!! gotta run!

If you think about it, a fetus is a parasite.

And I had two of 'em. At the time, I was married and "we" decided to stop there, we did not want to be out numbered.

Now I have six grandkids, split evenly 3 and 3. Numbers 7 and 8 were due this past may but sadly...this was not meant to be.

So...enjoy your parasites folks! They are truely a blessing! AND...do not fear the grandparent day....it only gets better.

ConGrats On the baby!!!!! They are such a joy!!!!! Truly the love of our lives I was SUPER lucky. I had 4 kids with a grand total of 8 hours of labour!!! once my water broke it was under 2 hours. I signed for drugs with my first but he came too fast so I figured if I handled it once I could handle it again. I had a midwife for my third and she was wonderful!!!! You've only had one ultra right want4? Ive been told the chances of them being wrong from an ultra sound measurments are very slim and usually only vary by a week max depending on growth. If you were further along but the baby measured what they told you - they would have said something to you, no?? Just guessing...

I have had 3 so far, and they all matched up time wise...right on schedual.

Alls good here, feeling good. :)

OB Appt went good this morning, my last ultra sound results came in and alls good, its in the 50th percentile for growth - so average, has all its parts. I have a cycst on my kidney but they are not worried about it, prob had it my whole life. Babys heart rate was 156, lots of movement. I'm up too much in weight so I need to smarten up, and will have to have extra appts if I continue to gain as I am. I got paper work for a series of blood test (iron, anitiboties, bacteria) and gestational diabetes - all routine, the gtt test is 2-3 hours, not fun. My next ob appt is dec 23, and tests to be booked 20th - 27th of dec. Blood pressures normal, urine good. Over all, everythings good except my weight, I was expecting this tho..

DH laughed when he heard the heart beat cuz it sounds like someones bending a thin sheet of aluminum. Lol!! He thought it was cool.

ive been (apparently) having reflux issues. nothing that makes me get sick but when i eat my first and second meal in the morning i get this horrible physical anxiety, rapid heart rate and strangely enough fatigue. this has left my mornings virtually worthless. i dont start feeling like a human being until after Jeffreys nap time. passing out at the polling booths early November has made me wary of doing too much while im feeling like that. :(

doc says my sugar looks great, we just need to figure out what works to help this reflux thing. tums isnt cutting it!!

We do have names we are tossing around but I feel like its too early to share, weird I know, we agree on girls names but not boys, and yes we are finding out the sex - on the 6th, when we go to the U C Baby ultra sound. We will then pick a name. So exciting!!

I get bad heartburn between meals - I use it as a reminder to eat, nothing in particular brings it on - except the need to eat. I get indigestion if I over eat too, not much room in there for food, my mind needs to catch up with my smaller tummy.

When's your next ultra? will you be finding out the sex? do you have names? Sorry you are feeling ill - thats no fun for anyone, hope it clears up!!

I'm not pregnant but, our baby will be born in January. We are adopting a new born and can't wait to bring him home. The birth mom is doing well and keeps in touch regularly. We are approved to adopt this baby. I've not been on here in so long. What a crazy time, getting things for the baby, packing to move as that is the stipulation for the approval. Where we live now is not up to code. complicated, finding a lawyer for paper work to be finalized, Doctor's appointments with the birth mom, Christmas, and need I go on. I don't know about you guys but, my life has been insane the last month or so. We are so excited though to finally bring a baby home after 14 years of marriage. We get to bring him right home from the hospital too so that is super exciting.

:) probably baby!! most are active when you hold still. your movement puts them to sleep, when you stop moving, they wake up. Alex is most active in the evening and through out the night.

not to get gross..... but your poop and gas travel BEHIND your uterus now. anything towards the bottom or front of where your uterus is baby movement. it feels much like gas bubbles rolling around, just in a different spot. :)

I think Im in panic mode:

Besides reno's starting this week - which Im so happy aslans doing, no panic there, just a tiny bit overwhlemed - until she arrives.

I ordered custom blinds and window coverings for all windows, they arrive on the 15th – after the contractor’s done, so we’ll have to install them and then start baby’s room – clean out and paint, carpets cleaned, buy a crib mattress and change table pad, go to the far north, pick up baby stuff from a friend, pick up and assemble crib and furniture, buy a dresser, buy a glider, attend prenatal classes and the baby shower. WOW!! Panic time?

Ive been buying $50 worth of essentials (wipes, bottles, diapers (only 1 pack), face clothes, blankets, etc) each pay day and its starting to stack up – I hope we are ready for this!!

8 more weeks of work and 12 weeks till baby comes!!

daughter is doing good...sort of, 8 weeks to go and she has to have weekly ultrasounds now because her stomach will no longer stretch, the baby is growing properly, a tad over 4 pounds right now, she is gaining, she's up to 114 from her starting weight of 91 pounds...but the tummy (half a basketball) won't stretch anymore so they are keeping an eye on the growth of the baby, he has no where to go but up, which could push too hard against certain organs of daughters causing lots of discomfort. Tomorrow we go to a 7 hour prenatal class *L* should be really interesting!!! Her shower is in two weeks, anyone want to attend?? *S* thanks for asking Ford girl and I'm glad you're doing well!! Can't wait for all the baby pics to start being posted

Ooooooooooo, FG, you're so close - how exciting! And your daughter too, Melinda... just 8 weeks left! You guys must be just thrilled!

I had my ultrasound last night, it's a GIRL!!!! We're so excited, we weren't hoping for one or the other but to know that she's healthy and progressing properly is amazing. I'm 19 weeks today, almost halfway there! I'm already the size of a house though... it tends to run in my family, both of my sisters were positively huge with their babies too. So, I'm 5' tall and I look 8 months preggo already - I'm like a big weeble wobble! I can't imagine what I'll be like in another few months:laughing::laughing:.

Ford Girl
January 16th, 2009, 08:53 PM
Melinda - ouch, poor girl! Hugs to her, its almost done!! Im short like Tommysmom, only 5' tall but much larger then your daughter and I suffer from bad indigestion and heart burn and sore ribs cuz its all being pushed up. My breakfast and lunch sits fine but no matter whats for supper it sits there for hours and I have to scarf Tums. :yell:

Tommysmom - A girl!!! How wonderful!! Did you get ultra pics? Im the same, a weeble wobble, the waddle started about 5 weeks ago and around xmas my hips started to losen up and spread and my ribs were next. fun times!!

Im up 30lbs total, and altho I complain I do love it! :cloud9:

One thing I learned is that you have to totally give up on trying to control your own body, it does what it needs to do to grow this baby and you have to give in to the aches and pains and exhaustion...

Are there names being thrown around for any of you? Any thoughts to that yet? Im pretty sure, altho we havent offically said it - I think we'll name him Jackson Paul Boyd. What do you think? we dont go around calling him that altho it's slipped a few times, its one of the only boys names we agree on.

Jackson Paul Boyd - I love it! It's a very strong name... plus, my hubby's name is Paul, so I'm partial to that.

Benjamin Christopher Romeo is good too - another nice, masculine name!

We haven't even thought of it yet, lol. Hubby's thrown out some names but I didn't like them, and I haven't thought of any suggestions myself yet. We have a book of names I think we'll have to start looking through - it seems like there is so much time left, but it's flown by so far so I'm sure it'll go faster than we think!

Melinda - thats a great name, strong, my brothers middle name is Benjamin, is is a long name for a teeny babe, but they only stay small for a short time (or so Im told). :cloud9: Hope she's resting and isnt too uncomfortable. Right now Im dealing with siatic (sp?) pain in my hip/knee, its awful, and Tylenol does nothing for it, I iver did it Thursday - long day on y feet, physically exhausting, and Im so paying for it.

Melinda - have fun at the class - let me know how usful you thought it was and if it helped or scared her even more. :)

Tommysmom, girls names are so much easier IMO lol!! Im sure you'll find one. you both agree on. We liked Claire, Lilly and Lillah (both names in DH's family), and DH liked Teri-Lynn (my names Teri), with a middle name of Michelle (mine)...so we had a girls name in the bag..turned out to be a boy. :lovestruck: So the debate continues...

Fordgirl, it really really helped!! especially the part where we as the "coaches" learned how to massage and work certain places to help alleviate the pains like what you are having (that one needs a butt cheek massage) *L* and we learned it also...much to daughters dismay!!

Good afternoon bun bakers and baby makers and those of us who support'em! :D

I had a 30 week OB check up today, my little buns bakn perfectly! Passed with "flying colors" all my tests according to the doc - who was much nicer this time around then the last OB I saw! No diabetes or infections, good blood pressure. Babys heart rate is 133, I'm up less then 1 kilo since Dec 23rd (amazing considering xmas!) Perfect! I am measureing larger then the week I'm in, Im 30 weeks and Im measuring 33 weeks, but that could be due to my large roll of death (pre-existing abdominal fat), or the babys just large! Lol!! I go every 2 weeks for the next 2 appt, then weekly in march. If I still measure ahead then they send me for an ultra ar 37 weeks. She confirm the sciatica pain, mild swelling and insomnia is all normal . So, I'm happy with todays appt. :goodvibes:

How is everyone doing this week?? :grouphug:

Oh My Gosh, it's going so fast! I'm at the halfway point today - 20 weeks!!! I can't believe how fast it's flying by.

Good to hear all went well with the check up, Ford Girl. Sounds like everything is going so smoothly for you!

Want4Rain, good to hear the ultrasound went well... too bad about the booger not cooperating though! Are you going to try again to see what it is, or just accept that maybe it's fate telling you that you have to wait?

I'm just so excited these days, I'm huuuuuuuugeeeeeeee and I'm preggo and I'm halfway there and I just want to savour every last minute of this... even the heartburn and reflux and can't-sleep-without-at-least-42-pillows-placed-just-right, LOL. I love it, love it, love it... we never thought we'd have this, and I'm just loving every minute!

I have 2 girls and a boy, they are all wonderful!!! girls..boys...

I don't really wanna share my stories.. people tend to wanna kill me... my longest labour was 3 hours with my first, although I had an abrubtion, and she was 34 weeks, 4lbs 3ozs.. my second was a breeze I was induced and it was not that bad! my third was NUTS labour was an hour, no doctor to deliver him cuz i was only at the hosp for 10 mins, he just landed on the bed, all by myself!! there was a nurse in the room, and about 30 other people 2 minutes later.. haha they can move quick! never had an epidural, pain goes away real quick once you see that baby!

Hey!!

Ash - little bugger :stork-baby:, I have a friend whos baby was like that - never would give it up for the ultrasound tech - they ended up waitn til he was born. Glad you are doing well, home stretch!!! :goodvibes:

TM - I remember hittn 20 weeks - half way there, its so exciting!!! your next milestone is 24 weeks - its wonderful!! It flies by from this point, instead of counting up, you start counting down. ;) Im huge too, and I feel it in everything I do.

LML - I have a friend like you - 3 babies all under 12 hours total L&D! :frustrated::laughing: She had them all without pain meds or assitance, like it was nothing...just pushed em out.:laughing:

Melinda - hows your daughter doing with her ever growing baby and lack of room in there? how uncomfortable for her!!! :yell:

9 weeks to go and counting!! Got the babys room cleaned out and sorted thru so much junk and tossed most of it. Pickn paint today.:goodvibes:

Hey everyone!!! Let's hear some updates!!

How is everyone doing? What is eveyrone experienceing these days?

I want details!!!

Im doing good, almost 33 weeks, but measuring 3 weeks ahead. Apparently this babys a big boy. lol!! I had a check up this week - alls good, I go back on the 18th for another one, and an ultra sound on the 5th of March to see how big this baby really is! LOL!

If he's large, they will induce the following week, 2 weeks early, which I dont mind. It does mean my 4 weeks off before baby could be only 2. If he's not, they'll let me go full term and monitor. Im done work on the 27th, 13 more working days! WOOT! The pressures on to get things done, the baby's room is painted, carpets need to be cleaned and furniture needs to be set up. LOTS TO DO!! :)

Im starting to wobble, feeling large and heavy out front, suffering from aches and pains, sleepless nights, tones of kicking and movement! I love it.

im almost 30 weeks and ready for this to be over!! ive been pregnant for 110 weeks in my life with 10 more to go.

my braxton hicks are a pain in the behind. i get them when i stand up, when i sit funny, when i 'over work' myself.

my poor chiropractor is upset that my sacrum is off a little. ive been visiting twice a week for a few weeks.

Alex is pleasantly wiggly. :) puts on a show for anyone who is up for seeing or feeling a wiggle. we have found that if we rest a TV remote or the home phone across my belly, it wiggles a bunch when Alex does.

my kids are getting really excited. :lovestruck:

had some sleepless nights though.

im soooo sleepy tonight though!!

Hey ladies...just thought I would mention we did prenatal classes this weekend, it was awsome, so worth our time, DH was amazing, he's so in to it - he's going to be a great support!! It did change our minds or rather open up our thoughts on natural birth/pain meds, not that I have chosen one or the other but its given us very good info and ideas on things we can do to manage the birth. We both loved it.

I started leaking colostrum yesterday - normal but still very strange to see it. lol!! 7 weeks and counting - down!! WOOT!!

glad you enjoyed your class fordgirl, daughter is doing fine, she lost 2 pounds last week, dr said it is fine because the baby is still gaining weight, I found out this weekend that her bf does't have the stomach to cut the cord so I get to do it!!! how cool is that?? She wanted me to do it in the first place but we thought it only fair that the father had the honors.....*L* his loss, my gain. I'm setting up a nursery in her old room here....and monday (family day) we are setting up the one at her place, my mom will join us, so 3 generations fixing it up. we had her shower feb 1, my goodness, that child won't need clothing till he's 3 yrs old. she got every major peice of equipment. 55 invited, 62 confirmed (yeah, figure that one out) *L* and 72 showed up. ok, I'm soooo exited now, 5 weeks and the countdown begins....

How exciting Melinda!!! My mom would love to be in the room with us but wont be here in time - which is fine, my DH and sis are my support team. Sounds like the shower was a success!! So much to buy and prep for, and do, its unreal. 3 generations - amazing, I have that too, when baby comes - it'll be 4.

My sis in law asked me why im not working right up to my due date and why im having a shower. I just laughed and said...cuz i have 3 wekes vacation to use and Im huge and its draining to work every day, and as for the shower - I told her that she would be surprised if she knew what you actually needed for a baby. Just wait till its her turn...lol!!

My DH said he was going to get inthe shower with me, do all the massage, and breathing and do all the work he needs to do, plus cut the cord, I hope when it comes down to it he can actually keep it together. lol! he's been amazing.

Im doing good, Im done work next Friday - the 27th. I cant wait!! My shower is next weekend, on the 28th. I had a check up this morning at 34 weeks, and Im measuring 39 weeks!!! 5 weeks ahead!! It's a big boy!! I have an ultra sound booked for the 5th of March, to see how big he is. They told me I should be finishing work very soon and to pack my hospital bags just in case. The babys head down and facing the right way.

Other then feeling heavy and large and a little sore and achy, Im good, enjoying it. Sleeping so so, eating small meals, waiting for my last day of work!!!

I havn't posted on this thread before (never saw it before) but its interesting to see all those others expecting!

I'm at 30 weeks and am already counting down to my last day of work (YAY only 26 more days to go),

We originally decided that we weren't going to find out what it was going to be but now I am having second thoughts about that.

Was thinking about asking for a 3D ultra sound to find out, anyone had one before? Do you have to pay for them?

Also was wondering if anyone else had noticed strange behavior from their animals while being pregnant?? My little puppy seems obsessed with my bump, is always sniffing it, she is so interested, almost like she is asking "what the heck is going on in there??!!"

Hi everyone!!

Welcome CarolenM, feel free to join us anytime, post what ever you'd like. Im in Calgary and had a 3D/4D ultra sound done by my reg ultra sound tech, didnt cost us anything, the first part of it was a reg scan, then they changed wands and did the 3D. Not all reg ultra sound clinics have the 3D capability, so ask around. Its amazing. Then we went to U C Baby at 24 weeks and found out the sex, this one is non-medical and cost $175 for the basic package.

Ash - not long now, how are the other kids handling it?

Melinda - you should post some pics of the babys room, I bet its cute. :)

I agree the pets know whats up, they sense energy and emotions and hormones, my dog totally adjusted to my energy levels dropping at the beginning and in the third trimester, and she's always smelling my belly. Last night I slept on the couch and she was very concerned, she watched over me all night. lol!

Howdy guys!

Glad to hear it's all going well for you guys! CarolenMolly, you're a wee bit ahead of me too, looks like I'm the last one up in this line. I'm just over 24 weeks now, will be 25 this Friday. I'm HUGE - everybody thinks I'm ready to pop, my customers at work are scared I'm about to drop a baby in their laps, LOL. I'm only 5'0 though, so I guess between the baby and my organs my tummy HAS to expand fast to fit everything in, lmao.

We've picked a name too, I think... Lillian Marie. You all don't know our last name, but trust me - it flows beautifully:cloud9:. So we're going to have a baby Lili. Hopefully. If they got it wrong, then we're going to have a little boy with no name and an awful lot of girly clothes:laughing:.

Little story about the name, just cuz I love saying it. My hubby and I both wanted to honour our grandmothers (who have both passed away) by using their first names as possible middle names. Unfortunately, they just didn't work very well together and we decided not to use them at all, since one side or the other would get hurt if we just used one. When we were going through our book of baby names I saw 'Lillian' and told my hubby that was my grandmother's middle name... and he said hey, that was my grandmother's middle name too!! So, it was fate - we really HAD to use the name somehow since it was just such a funny coincidence! I'm so glad, because everything good in my life has happened since my grandmother passed... I'm not a particularly spiritual person or anything, but it's really hard sometimes to deny that she's taking care of me somehow. I just hope she knows how proud I am to have my child share her name.

Not just cuz her docs going on vacation. Babys come when they are ready, and induction isnt fun. I have an ultra sound tomorrow to see how large baby is, then the following week - they`ll talk to us about induction. Im still not convinced we should proceed unless he`s already 10lbs!! lol!

Ford Girl
March 6th, 2009, 07:23 AM
Here's the scoop from my 2 appts yesterday:

OB - heart rate was good, my blood pressures good, less then 2lb weigh gain, wicked! Im dialated 1cm. Alls good. Still measuring 5 weeks ahead, at 36 weeks, measuring 41.

Then we went for an ultra sound...

The baby weighs, according to the data collected form the fluid, size, measurments and movement - 8lbs 6ozs already!!! LOL! YIKES! The average right now, should be about 6lbs...so he's well above the average for a 36 week old baby, and is due to gain .5 to .75 of a lb per week. The info will be sent to the OB before Monday and I should call to confirm they recieved it Monday.

We couldnt see much cuz the bigger they are, the less fluid there is cuz of the space baby takes up - the less baby you can see, plus with the bones calcifying - ultra sounds dont like bones. What we did see is hair- and what looked like lots of it - and giant chubby hands and fingers - D's like "omg, looks like toddler hands", and a long spine, and what could be large legs and femur bones. lol! All relative of course to the actual size of the baby. Saw his chubby nose too. lol! He looked huge on the screen.

We found out why the baby has the hiccups at least 3 times a day - he wouldnt stop practice breathing...he did it none stop, which means his lungs are probably mature. They tested the cord - blood flow both ways was perfect, placenta is where it should be and still functioning 100%. As the tech did measurments for each section and estimated delivery date came up - they ranged from Feb 28th to March 6th...not sure what the final EDD is...but its certainly not March 28th! LOL!! No pictures cuz the 4D doesnt work at this stage cuz its too much baby and not enough fluid. He wouldnt tell us much more, I cant wait to hear what the OB says.

Love4 - they are talking induction cuz of the size of the baby, and the fact that we want to have a vag birth and avoid a csection should he hit 10+ lbs, Im a small girl, with a small pelvis, and worse yet, I'd hate to go thru 24 hours of labour and then an emerg csection - so if he's big and healthy - if they decide to induce, my chances of a vag delivery is better. My goal is to avoid a csention if possible, I do know plans change and Im ok with that. With 3 weeks to go, he could end up being very large. Im not going to jump at the chance unless I feel ok with it, I am starting to physically feel unwell, cant breathe, cant eat, cant sleep..lol!! They only let you go 2 weeks over your due date these days.

The dates dont add up - my last period vs how far along I was in the beginning, I drove myself trying to figure it out, but all the ultra sounds added up thru the entire pregnancy, so i dont worry about it.

Melinda - wow, so exciting, I'll be checking in for updates..not long now!!

Here are some pics...

Ash - you dont look huge at all!! You look tiny!! :) and happy!

One more cuz you need to see the matching lamp and the calgary flames frame and bear - he's already a hockey fan!! (apparently lol). :D That CD is a lullaby cd - by Metalica, Metalica's Lullaby...from his aunty.

FG, the nursery is adorable!!! i like the bedroom set!!
i had my period after the last two conceptions. it was pretty light but it really threw me off. i knew this last time around that i WAS pregnant but bleeding stopped me from taking the p-test until i was a bit along.

went to the docs today. Alex's heart beat sounds great though Doc says he seems a little small compared to the last two kids. we're gonna do another ultra to check position. Chris and i have been under an obscene amount of stress the last several months so her size doesnt surprise me much..... unfortunately. :(

FG, 8lbs + is a big baby!!! my daughter was 7lb9oz and was difficult, Jeffrey was 8lb3oz and easy but i cant imagine an 8lb-er being my first! go with what feels right. :) the rational and facts are all already out on the table.

I dont see the doc til Thursday, and within a few days I'll be in my 38th week, so he wont be too early if we do induce. :) He may just come on his own before then.

Good luck with the ultra sound, its always a relief, even if its not what you thought. xo

So I was on my way to work this morning and I got a text message from my brother (I know I shouldn't be reading texts while I drive). His lady is preggers!! I'm gonna be an aunty!!! I was so overjoyed in the car I was crying like a fool and laughing my head off at the same time. I'm not sure of all the details yet, I'll find out tonight. I am so damn excited I can hardly contain myself, next to getting preggers myself this is the most exciting thing ever!!

Congratulations Melinda! Good to hear everybody's doing well, you must be so happy.

FG, the nursery looks awesome! You're so close, it must be getting so exciting!

I'm just over 27 weeks now - and up to doctor's appointments every two weeks now along with various appointments for rh shots and gd tests and all that jazz. Our hospital tour is in just a few weeks, and we've booked a car seat clinic to make sure we have everything right. Lili has been kicking up a storm! It's getting so close now that I'm a wee bit past the excited point and getting close to the omg-I'm-terrified point, LOL:laughing:.

Here's our crib, although she won't be in it right away (we bought a little moses basket and stand to keep her in our bedroom at first).

Thanks WD, wow eh? How are parents suppose to know these things?? Makes you wanna research everything...

Update!

I had an ultra sound today, will be discussing details tomorrow at 10am with my OB, to see if they want to induce or go naturally. Estimated weight of baby, 9lbs 4 oz, just under 1lbs gained in under 2 weeks, his head is directly on my cervix, they couldnt even get the angle right to get a good shot of it, he's way deep down, my cervix appeared open and the tech said I was dialted, she couldnt say how much tho - not her job. His bums by my belly button and his leg and foot are tucked neatly in my rib cage on the right, the other legs waving freely to the left where the placenta is located. lol!! BUGGER! Spread out thru my entire belly, making use of every inch of space he can, she saw his boy parts. ;) Um- no wonder my ribs are sore!! She zoomed in on his foot behind my ribs. lol!

The tech says...here's his large head...

Me - large head? omg

Tech - dont worry, his bodys large too, his shoulders are wide...(she was thinking I was concerned about his "large head" being dispoportioned to his body!!)

Me - oh gawd, he's that big?

Tech - ya, he's big, he's a healthy BIG boy...

She showed me his heart and organs, his heart rates down - to 128 - which from the research Ive just read is normal right before birth, it lowers due to the ever shriking space, the calm before the storm. He's in the 92nd percentile meaning if they lined up 100 babies, there would be 91 smaller then him and only 8 bigger, 50 is average...92 is BIG! She asked if I had diabetes. lol! The fluid is normal. I saw his face, looked chubby, his chin and nose especially..:lovestruck:

Thats the scoop...

So excited,

Teri of the giant baby makers...

Doc's went ok, Im dialted 3cms now, so no induction planned yet, since Im progressing on my own, they want to wait, fine by me, altho Im not sleeping and am very uncomfy, I dont wanna rush it if its progressing naturally. She swept my membranes and stretched my cervix, that otta help. No weight gain for me, and bellys measuring only 4 weeks ahead now cuz he dropped low down, makes my belly smaller. Not that I actually noticed that. lol!! I think Im huge!!

Alex's head is plugging it? That sounds so bizarre to me, w4r  I've never had skinkids, so this is all a big mystery to hazel. :o I always thought when the bag breaks it was all or nothing. :o

:goodvibes: for an effortless and safe delivery...in a few weeks! :D

Melinda...if she could keep her legs crossed would she posting in the baby thread !?!?

Good luck W4R !!! I hope you at least make it past Jeffrey's birthday so they each have their own day!!

I haven't lurked in here for a while but thought that there might be some baby news any day---and look at that !! Down to the wire--bambinos arriving everywhere! I miss my little babies that got "all growed" when I wasn't looking.
