IS he an indoor cat, if so, he has probably not gone too far. I would leave out tuna or salmon on your porch/deck. The best time to go out is early morning/evening..when it is more quite out. You can leave something that has your smell on it as well. I would also put an ad in your local newspaper, along with a picture of him. Put posters up at grocery stores, pet stores, etc. Go into your shelter (or city whoever picks up strays) and write up a lost report and I would also bring in a picture of your cat and attach it to the lost repost. All black cats tend to look the same alot of times. I have even picked up black stray cats and they even had a white marking in the same spot of the other black cat that I had picked up earlier.

Call the Edmonton Humane Society or who ever does Animal Control for your City. I believe it is the city?

Hope you find him..keep us posted.

Thank you so much for your advice,
I put up posters in the neighborhood, and tonight I was going to do surronding neighborhoods. I put up a report on the SPCA/City site, but I was going to visit the shelters too.
I hope he comes back.

My friend's cat George was out this summer for over 2 weeks! He never strayed far from the bushes at the side of her house, just got really scared and would only come out late at night.... we finally caught him with a humane trap, it was broken and open for a few nights so he got in and out for food without it closing, then I fixed it and that night he was caught. I agree with ACO, indoor cats don't usually go far, they just get really disoriented and scared, so sit out, leave food and don't stop calling his name.... as soon as my friend sat out with me her guy was caught... they really need to hear familiar voices and smell things that they know. He'll be in our  tonight. :grouphug:
