My cat had gotten her rabies shot yesterday and now every time we pick her up she cries out and wants to be put down. She seems really depressed and is usually VERY playful and active and now just wants to lie down and not do anything. We have been giving her lots of attention to show that we care for her and will help her out. Not sure if this is regular symptoms of the shot or whats going on. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

It is normal for many to be out of sorts for a few days after any shots. More so if the rabies was given in conjunction with all the other shots. We have to have the vaccinations separated for our one girl and even then she is lethargic for about three days after the rabies. She used to be really "out of it" for a week when the shots were given altogether. There may be soreness at the injection site as well.

I would leave her alone but watch to be sure she is eating and drinking and eliminating. Not eating is dangerous for cats because of fatty liver disease. Watch for signs of swelling at the injection site. If you have concerns call your Vet.

My cats react to the rabies shot more than the other vaccines too. Just keep a close eye on her but let her be alone to rest and do not let her outside if she normally goes out. She will come to you when she's ready....just make sure she is eating, drinking and eliminating normally. If she is not back to normal by Monday I would give the vet a call.

Good luck and keep us posted. :fingerscr :goodvibes:
