Long time no talk, been busy with our log home build and earlier this year we were taking care of my hubbies Aunt until she passed away, so its been a little crazy. We are still dealing with her will issues 5 months later.
Tucker loves the house already, as its log we have to watch him for lifting his leg. LOL He has been doing great, and has turned into a beautiful dog. Just thought I'd send a few pictures so you know we are still here.

Not yet that was taken last weekend, it should have the roof finished and windows and doors in this week. We are having it build, but a lot of the interior finish work we have to do. We also had to set up the plumber, electrician and heating guy. So yeah its been a busy summer and its not over yet. Here is another pic of the back.

what a beautiful home! I have always dreamed of building a log home one day. Out of curiosity, what company did you go through? I know there are some national companies that provide the "shell" and then you are responsible for the finishing. Are you happy with the process so far? Would you recommend it?
oh, and Tucker looks great too! :lovestruck:

We used Frontier Log homes up in Wiarton On. It has been a different experience, as some banks don't lend on a log home build others you have to put up almost all the money first, so that was a learning experience where the log thing didn't almost happen. It has been a bad year for building this summer with all the rain we had, and at time were left with the sub-contractor waiting on building supplies but I think we will be happy in the end. We always wanted a log home and figured we are only doing it once so why not follow our dream.

I love your house :lovestruck:, I wanted a cottage type house when we built our a few years ago, but DH wanted a city type house, he won.

I know what you mean about banks :frustrated:, we ended up getting a 70K line of credit to help us out between mortgage draws.

The banks were crazy in the beginning but then we went to Scotia Bank and no problem. The others just have problems with the way a log home is built like the house is to be framed then you get a pay out, with a log home there is no framing its just the logs. We are doing the line of credit thing too, it is so much easier but we keep this until we turn it into a mortgage.
We are not moved in yet they are doing the drywalling today and the furnace guy and electrician have to get in and finish hooking everything up, so hopefully soon.

Scotiabank was the bank we dealt with.

We did all the framing, finishing carpentry and plumbing ourselves, saves thousands. Moved in with no floors, doors and only one closet to hang up clothes :D We did have a great time building, though. Would do it all over again.

It was harder for us as we live in Toronto and the cottage is near Owen Sound, the log company does the majority of the big work and you have to do the finish. So that is where we are at right now, we were hoping to do more but the scheduling got in the way, then with all the rain it slowed thing down and now we have a friend that has built 5 homes for himself including one this summer to help out. I don't know what we would have done without him as he has many contacts over the years that we used. Right now he has a couple of Amish guys working with him to get it done, they are hard workers and will help out anyone when you need them.

Sure I'll post pics when I get them hopefully after Thanksgiving a lot should be done inside, just trying to pick colours now.
Lucky kids yeah I just hope they appreciate it and keep it between them once we are gone as it is left to them along with our 67 Thunderbird we bought this summer, and the atv's, snowmobiles that we have. Seems like they have it made. I will never get anything like that given to me its all acquired with hard work which makes us appreciate it more. But I'm glad I can leave them something when I'm gone and maybe my grandchildren too. Since my hubby and I are scattering our ashes up there when we go hopefully they will keep it for us.

Doggy Lover,I know what you mean,NOTHING was ever given to us,not even wedding-gifts(since we got married, with only a couple of friends as witnesses)and I,like you appreciate everything we have accomplished.
Now,a log-house would certainly be icing on the cake:laughing:

Yeah I'm at a real good point in my life right now, I can't say that anything else would make it much better. Well money would be nice but hell that can't make you happy. I have had a rough few years with health losing a long loved pet, my grandmother and my husbands aunt that we cared for but as they say that is life and although you never get over it we must move on. I just keep waiting for the bubble to burst. But we are all happy and when my husband found a replacement for the 68 Thunderbird he had when he was 20, that was a fluke on its own we were just out for a drive and he stopped to look at a small truck for our son and he just almost walked into this car, I just knew it was coming home with us, its like finding a puppy you always wanted. You should of seen his face, it was like a little boy with a new toy. Considering we got it for half of what it is appraised at I think we did good and the car is in great shape. So like I said life is good, very good. Here is a pic of the car.
