I"m so so Frustrated.

I am so torn between taking my brother in laws head of and feeling sorry for him. Him and his wife were watching their son and his wife's 2 chocolate labs while they are on vacation. The youngest of the two is a runner and when my brother in law let him out to go potty, he took off and went out on the road and got hit and killed. I"m angry because the dog should have been on a leash,, they know he runs. I"m also feeling for them because they are going to have to explain to his son when he gets home that their beloved pet was hit on the road. I"m angry that they didn't take better mind of the dogs. I mean if they know he's a runner,,why did they even let him out without being leashed. They live in the country and think because they have a large yard the dog is safe,, but with a dog that runs, anyone would know you can't let it go in any yard that is not fenced in. So I"m torn,, I"m angry that this happened, and didn't need to, and I"m hurting for them telling their son and his wife that the dog is gone, because even though what they did was stupid and neglectful, they really are good people and didn't intend for this to happen... I"m so frustrated I could blow up

Sorry it's so long,, I"m just so frustrated and have no where to vent without causing hurt feelings or saying or doing the wrong thing.

What would you do?

I'd just have tons of sympathy for everyone involved. Your BIL will be carrying this forever, I wouldn't add to his pain. Anger may be unavoidable, but let it be between them. jmo :o
Poor dog - I hope it was quick.

Yep that is what I'm doing. Keeping out of it, because it was such an awful thing to happen. Guess I just needed to vent my frustration on the fact that it should not have happened in the first place. The whole thing breaks my heart.
