3 Year Old White Lab Update

Today wasn't the best day as we have found out that our 3 year old white lab was diagnosed with lymphoma. He has 4-6 weeks to live. I would like to thank everyone for their support and wishes. I have one question, if someone could help me, how does an animal get lymphoma?; is it sparked by something or just occurs.
thank you

take care

Oh No! I am stunned! I am so very sorry for this news. I know nothing about the illness, so I hope others can help. What does your vet say? Man, life sucks sometimes.

I am a foster home for lab Rescue, so I can relate with you. Again, I am so sorry your family is having to go through this.

You should post this question in the Ask the Vet section.

I'm feeling for you this morning! How sad!

From what I have found through searching under "canine AND lymphoma" (Google), the causes are really unknown. There are some suggestions that genetics may be involved as there have been some cases of "cluster" cases within same litters. Also, it's mentioned there are higher incidents among dogs exposed to 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic (2,4-D) herbicides use on lawns. Other studies dispute this.

It's suggested there have been positive results from chemo-therapy. Has your vet made any recommendations along this line?

I am SO sorry to hear this.:( Please don't feel anything you did caused this to happen!

Your dog may not have long, but he is lucky to be so loved and cared for.
