Is there a story behind her, she looks like she has had to fight a few battles .

I love her markings very pretty.

Here's hoping that she gets along with your crew :fingerscr

She was thrown out into the cold where she got frostbite. A nice person brought her to the shelter for help. She went to one of the local county shelters, and at the time they didn't know what to do with her because she in really bad shape. They were kinda obligated to put her down or whatever, but the people at this shelter are really nice people and have good hearts and good intentions, so they called up the AWA (my shelter) to take her so that they wouldn't have to put her down. Once there, they had to amputate the ends of her ears from the frostbite because it was just dead tissue. She had been there since December 17th, 2007 and no one had ever taken her into foster care.

So for for the past 8 - 9 months she's been sitting in a cage first at one of the County Shelters, then at the AWA. With no one interested in adopting her probably because she was beat up looking.

Atleast the AWA is full of really nice people but it's harder to place the older cats into foster care because foster care is generally taken up by kittens/puppies, sick critters or desperate cases.

She's only about 2 years old so she's the same age as Socks so she should fit in fine.

How sad! I'm so glad the people at the shelter sent her to your shelter. It's too bad she's been in a cage for as long as she has. She must be thrilled she's got so much to explore now.

How did you come to find her? Did someone call you or were you just taking a stroll looking for a new kitty?

I've been volunteering for the shelter for a few months. I was doing offsite things because I was worried about becoming attached to the animals there. Well they all convinced me that I would be fine back at the shelter and everything. So I went there a few times and put in a bunch of hours there cleaning, doing laundry, photographing the kitties, being a vet tech etc. Sooo just like I told them I was going to end up bringing them all home if I go back the shelter.

So now everyone there thinks I'm ridiculous. I was like "I TOLD YOU SO!!!!" but it's all good.

LOL, I hear ya. I took Maks and Kiska to get weighed today at the vets office and it was all I could do to not look in the cage with the kitty they were trying to find a home for.

I'm happy you found this little one. She needed someone to come and give her a home. Many people want perfect looking pets. Unfortunately she would probably have been passed by if you hadn't taken her home.

She was passed by for almost 9 months :(

I was told by the girl who works in the cat room that one lady was interested in Tessie a really long time ago, but the lady kinda just reached in the cage and grabbed her, and like any other cat Tessie freaked out. So the lady decided not to get her.

Like duh, it's a cat not a teddy bear.

Och I wonder why people do such cruel things to animals, it is disgusting. I hope she does get one well with your other wee fur babies. She is a wee dream - love the black and white markings. So cute. I wish her all the best.

Take care.:thumbs up
