August 2008 challenge - Pets and the summer heat

OMG tomorrow is the first of August already time sure flys..

what is in store for the August challenge??

How about "Dog days of summer" theme, (kitties can be included of course)

Just so it's clear dog days of summer refers to HOT summer days.

So basically pets and the heat.. I'm down with that.

One more day to go...feel free to suggest new topics but the topic with the most support wins.

Works for me, with the heat we've had that pretty much is any picture taken in the last 2mths....

the only thing is that there has not much sun mostly rain.. and when we do get sun it is short lived....

eg. if your dog is a chinese breed it could have a photo of it beside a chinese flag of your dog could be at the beach with sandcastles with flags in them. i think the more ingenious the idea the better

lol, as you can see he was biting hunks of the skin off and spitting it out, he only eats the actual red melon. trying to teach him to spit any little seeds there might be.

I'm going to have to really think about what I can do to get mine here. They live in a 70 degree apartment. They get no heat :laughing:

Sleepy goats in the summer heat. Notice how Nuggets face is melting into the picnic table. He also is practicing his goat yoga by sleeping with his back leg wedged behind his head...and Bob snuggled on his porch enjoying the breeze as he snoozes.

Maxwell saying "it's too hot in here!!". Our air conditioner was broken for over a week. We rent and our land lady was being a tad bit slow on getting us a new one. It's all good now though :thumbs up

I have one of the kittens sitting infront of the fan as well. I need to find it.

AG- technically any pictures you post of the kids is them keeping cool, since it's hot outside and they are in the a/c. Don't you love how i can rationalize stuff. You gotta have atleast one of them stretched out on the tile floor.

Below, river walking in Threepoint Creek with Abby, only a few miles from our house. This qualifies as the local swimming hole in our lake-deprived, semi-desert area!! The creek is shallow enough for all of us to go for a walk down the middle. Creeks and rivers are public land in Alberta.

Hello everyone!! I haven't been on here in quite some time :( .....just wanna say what beautifull fur babies you all have ....LOVE all the pics:cloud9: ...well, here is my boy Ringo, doing what he does best all summer..keepin his eye on the cows, playin ball, and just hangin out where it's cool :)

Ok, here are the kitties first.

Now you know it is hot when you see the two of them so close together.....this is something that rarely happens. The get along fine but aren't a cuddley close bunch. And there is one solo shot of Amos....airing himself out on the couch.

And here's Zoe....who has a few different ways to beat the heat.

We have sleeping, stealing a pop to wash down supper and her idea of getting wet..biting the hose (got lucky snapping that pic and the time of the bite)

Quite a silly question really, but i've never done the photo challenge before (seeing as i have no pets but 2 fish but am getting a puppy soter soon) and i haven't been on this forum for long, and i was wondering, is the photo challenge an actual contest with a voted winner or is it just a chance to show off some truly adorable pictures!!!!!

Duffy's got the right idea! She looks great. I had a fountain like that for Vlad and Oksana but they wouldn't go near it when I had it turned on.

yup it was made by kong there was a red one and a black one..

no, she's not comfortable enough in the water to lay down in it, although sometimes I wish she would! She still will only go in if there is some type of lure, such as a ball or stick!!

Growler you'll be happy to hear that once all 3 were bathed the pool was emptied, rinsed and refilled for everyones fimmin pleasure.

Voodoo will do that when there's grass/reeds growing under the water. She puts her head under and pulls clumps of grass up, tosses them aside, then continues until she notices we're laughing so hard!

Now if only I could teach her to weed the new garden....
